But totally revamp it.
- Instead of everyday, air it once a week on either Thursday or Friday to coincide with new releases.
- Instead of just being about music videos, discuss Black pop culture & current events.
Ask the audience to chime in about the different stories.
- Do a "What are you listening to?" segment kinda like we do here. Where they take like 5 audience
members and ask them their favorite recent song of the moment. Then show part of the video or play a
snippet of the song. Good way to stay up on current music tea.
- Do a "spotlight" segment where they give an indie/unknown artist some exposure by playing their video.
- Have celebs still come on and perform, guest host, interview, and premiere music videos/promote films/shows
- Also discuss & cover serious issues in the Black community.
I think it could slay, especially since Black artists really don't have many places to promote anymore.

Thx bby! June's Diary made me think about it. I was listening to their song and thought how they would be all over '106 & Park' right now if it was still on the air. It sucks that they don't have that outlet to promote & gain exposure.
It sucks it had to go out the way it did tbh. It used to be IT.

It really did. It got stale closer to the end, but the Urban gorls really need a show like this.
That was like their main source of promo.

Exactly! That's a major source of exposure they're missing out on.
I could see them guest hosting & performing.
It should be an online version though.
Very good ideas
And with Urban comin back I don't see how this could fail

That's kinda pointless. It needs to be on TV.
And they should change the fckn time an hour or two later
I mean, think about Brandy right now. She's indie.
She could go on there and promote the tour. They could show clips. Really get the word out there.

Honestly I think Youtube replaced shows like 106 and TRL. People used to have to wait until their fav video came on TV to go perch and watch it. Or relied on those shows to debut mess.
I think those shows were discontinued because of the failing ratings. No one's really gonna be perched in front of BET on a weekday evening waiting for a video premiere. They'll be somewhere on their mobile device checking their social timelines and mess to see what's being shared.
And on top of that cable TV is getting booted out of many houses for Netflix and Hulu anyway. I don't think them not having 106 is gonna make a huge difference.
Just my opinionata :ohwow:
I agree. That's why the show needs to be revamped. It was all about music videos everyday.
They need to make it about Black pop culture & current events as a whole, and instead of
everyday do it once a week.

Yeah...
Teens and mess aren't gonna watch on the Internet. I know I wouldn't.
The mindy project was hilarious. U ok :uhh:
social media/youtube pretty much phased those kind of shows out. no one has to sit in front of a tv to watch their favorite music video or a get hip to any new music and with bet mimicking everything mtv does, I'm sure new music related programs isn't on the memo.
MTV is bringing back a few of their shows tho. They just need to offer something more than videos and people will watch, i think. I would if the show had some more elements
This would be cute in the mid-00's luv :stressed: black pop culture is literally non-existent these days. Especially with social media (i.e. 'black twitter') literally everything regarding black music and youth is regulated to tweets or vids that are under 1 minute so I can't imagine a whole show about it. People would tune out fast. I think a panel for young black entrepreneurs and public figures would be interesting. Like they could discuss today's topics or history.

Young people are glued to the internet.
This is 106 and park, not the Golden Girls.
TV is pointless at this time, for this KIND of show.
106 and park should be seamless with social media.
Viral, etc.
I honestly don't even watch my favorite shows WHEN THEY AIR.
All online.
No one has the time to be perched at the TV at 5 or 6pm.
106 and park should have their OWN APP, etc.
Talking about current events, music, etc.
All social media'd owt.
Sorry, i just think people are less likely to watch a television show like this online. I know i wouldn't go online to watch it. This aint OITNB or some mess to get invested in, aint nobody going to BET.COM top watch no damn 106 &park. This is EXACTLY the show that needs to be on tv. It would go unwatched online.

I see what you're saying.
The format of the OLD 106 and park would go unwatched online, to me.
But if they revamped it... where the focus is NOT on the countdown, but rather an artist interview, performance, behind-the-song, etc. It could work.
But we'll just have to agree to disagree.

I'd love an Unplugged/Diary reboot, but I don't see it fitting into today's music scene. Social media has pretty much ruined the mystery of the celebrity and most artists aren't talented enough to pull off some sort of acoustic performance.

yea, like who would do Unplugged? Fetty Wap? or a Diary fjfjjj Weeknd? Fifth Harmony? IT all sounds late.
The only thing that's still a mystery somewhat... is the MUSIC part of it all... what happens behind the scenes. Why were the songs chosen, what do they mean to the artist, recording process, etc.
If they revamped Diary with a "MUSIC Diary" twist, that could work.

Unplugged wasnt about britney spears n backstreet boys performing on there when they were around anyway.
There are plenty of artists who can perform on there. It was never about who was the most famous. Maxwell did his unplugged right at his first album, not after he created a name for himself. Matter fact, Unplugged is what helped introduce some people. There's definitely talent and an audience for that.
