She should've dropped it the first time she announced the date. Pushing it back to the end of July was kinda pointless.

This is so damn sad. I was expecting at least 50k.
She hardly had any promo
Sales will pick up
It's her best album thus far
That being said I LOVE this album
I never thought I would live to see anything like this. Not 95% of R&B girls opening with under 35k. I remember when Ciara and Keyshia were opening with 300k+. This is sad.
I'm actually more shocked at Khaled's numbers but then again he took mad long to release.

Sadly no. None of the other R&B girls' sales picked up. Monica, Tamar, Keyshia, etc etc. The era is pretty much done for ha just like everyone else's was after those 1st week numbers.

All the sounds they dabble in SUCK, luv. The music is awful and late. Jazmine Sullivan, Monica, Fantasia, etc are all serving this LATE ass traditional sound.
These Pop girls and KEHLANI (I'm sure that's who you were referring to) actually have great progressive sounding music.
Kehlani has already been nominated for a Grammy and her debut album isn't even out yet.

RCA is the fuckin PITTS! If I was a urban artist there I would request to leave or transfer to EPIC since there both under Sony...
Anywho as said by others already, R&B music is not the problem cuz obviously it's made its turn for the better after 2012. TBQFH it's the marketing/advertising and rollout of the projects they need to change the formula for. They need to figure out ways to shock the world a bit to put the limelight back on the genre without being a Beyonc? or a big name...
I think Jazmine had the most promo out of the RCA girls

There are artist getting support and do all the visuals, fashion, etc.. do the same numbers lmao -- A push doesn't guarantee a purchase these days..
If I were these artists that barely get any support from the label, I wouldn't be spending all the hard earned money I got to still get the same result lol I don't blame them..
End up spending 50-100K of my own money, doing 3-4 extra videos and look fashion forward or whatever. only to still sell under 40K and still owe the label money for the making of the album? fuck that.. lmao
They would all go broke and end up like Dawn...
What more was Fanny supposed to do? other than tour, idol, release the video, some tv spots..

i think they should try, too. But most of them girls are under major labels that don't allow a LOT of what y'all are talking about
And the other stuff :dead: endorsements! branding! It's not that simple. Once people lose interest and deem you to be old news, ur finished in that industry. It's a popularity contest, period.
A lot of them do work hard but many of their ideas get shot down
Until they go independent, you'll never know who's lazy and who isn't.

QuoteFantasia achieves her fourth top 10 album with the arrival of The Definition Of? at No. 6 with nearly 32,000 units (29,000 in pure album sales). Her last release came just over three years ago, when Side Effects Of You debuted and peaked at No. 2 on the May 11, 2013-dated list. It was her second No. 2-peaking album, following 2010?s Back To Me. She also visited the top 10 with her debut effort, Free Yourself, which peaked at No. 8 in 2004. (One further album, her 2006 self-titled set, peaked at No. 10.)
