J/k did anybody see it yet? Im seeing mixed reviews? Some saying it was sugarcoated like "NOTORIOUS" :uhh:
It's making a lot of fcking money
I know that
Not entertaining that stuff
And the fucking shade is all the cops they have in the theatres since this mess has been out
Everyone has been saying it's good. I won't see it because they were offensive to black women in the casting, but I'll catch a bootleg.
It had the highest debut of any film with both a black cast and black director, according to one blog I follow.

The casting call ranked women by race, hair, etc. The "A" girls were models of any race with their own hair. The blacker they got, they were ranked lower through "D" girls. Beyonce herself was described as a "B" since she's only light-skinned with a weave, I guess. :dead:
Keep in mind, eighties and nineties aesthetics were different than they are now. Girls in rap videos back then were pretty but looked like regular, around the way girls, not international models.

same here!
i was never into the west coast rap shit as a youngster.
It was all about NYC rapper during my days
Plus, where was Michel'le? She's not in it amd she was a big artist for them, and she pioneered in the eighties the hiphop/R&B that dominated ever since.
the movie was really good tho...and it showed the shit they had to go through and how they manage to rise to the top. And the actors did a really good job....
Imma see it on RedBox. Lol
Did they mention anything about Dre's habit of beating on women or that disco group he was in back in the day?
The movie was incredible. A definite candidate at next year's Oscar's.
Jason Mitchell, Paul Giamatti & Corey Hawkins should all be recognized for their performances.

The purpose of the movie was to solely focus on N.W.A
Not their individual lives. :dead:
not interested
It was semi epic
No shade!
They allllll fucking SLAYED!
All of them ..
And the dude that plays dr Dre brother was to die for
I kee hearing the acting is really good.
I'm gonna see it this Friday. Ice Cube's son is cute as hell. I thought he was older tho. He was born in 91
Cant wait to see it
I'll wait because black people swore up and down The Best Man Holiday was good. Just like Amazon and cheaply priced items being highly rated, I have to take the reviews of black people with a grain of salt.
I'm more concerned about why black people choose to support and get toe' up about certain things and not others. Last year they were boycotting this movie because it was on some colorism shit even clowning black women like Beyonce for not being a latina...fast forward to now, y'all wanna support? This is why I side eye the black plight sometimes. sometimes it's bullshit because we are fickle as hell. But let some white folks had said it like that king of Egypt movie with all of them white folks... game over... but yeah.

Wait, Glock, how do I really hate being black for questioning black people's fake outrage? Around the time that casting call came out, soooo many black people, especially black women, said they were going to boycott this film because it was wrong on some black power bullshit and now they have amnesia? :shannonsmissing:

The short of the long is that they were on some colorism bullshit.
QuoteThe folks over at Universal Pictures have made a great deal of progress with the upcoming film "Straight Outta Compton," which will tell the story of the infamous West Coast rap group N.W.A.
The biopic, produced by former N.W.A members Ice Cube and Dr. Dre along with Tomica Woods-Wright, the widow of fellow N.W.A rapper Eazy-E, garnered quite a bit of excitement in June, when Universal announced that the film will hit theaters in August 2015. That announcement was accompanied by a thrilling photo of the featured cast members. But the latest glimpse into the movie's progress is too cringe-worthy for words.
A casting call for the movie was recently posted on the Facebook page of the Sande Alessi Casting company. The post will raise quite a few eyebrows:
SAG OR NON UNION CASTING NOTICE FOR FEMALES-ALL ETHNICITIES- from the late 80's. Shoots on "Straight Outta Compton". Shoot date TBD. We are pulling photos for the director of featured extras. VERY IMPORTANT – You MUST live in the Los Angeles area (Orange County is fine too) to work on this show. DO NOT SUBMIT if you live out of the area. Nobody is going to be flying into LA to do extra work on this show - and don't tell me you are willing to fly in.
SAG OR NON UNION FEMALES - PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR SPECIFIC BREAKDOWN. DO NOT EMAIL IN FOR MORE THAN ONE CATEGORY:
A GIRLS: These are the hottest of the hottest. Models. MUST have real hair - no extensions, very classy looking, great bodies. You can be black, white, asian, hispanic, mid eastern, or mixed race too. Age 18-30. Please email a current color photo, your name, Union status, height/weight, age, city in which you live and phone number to: SandeAlessiCasting@gmail.com subject line should read: A GIRLS
B GIRLS: These are fine girls, long natural hair, really nice bodies. Small waists, nice hips. You should be light-skinned. Beyonce is a prototype here. Age 18-30. Please email a current color photo, your name, Union status, height/weight, age, city in which you live and phone number to: SandeAlessiCasting@gmail.com subject line should read: B GIRLS
C GIRLS: These are African American girls, medium to light skinned with a weave. Age 18-30. Please email a current color photo, your name, Union status, height/weight, age, city in which you live and phone number to: SandeAlessiCasting@gmail.com subject line should read: C GIRLS
D GIRLS: These are African American girls. Poor, not in good shape. Medium to dark skin tone. Character types. Age 18-30. Please email a current color photo, your name, Union status, height/weight, age, city in which you live and phone number to: SandeAlessiCasting@gmail.com subject line should read: D GIRLS
Although the original Facebook post has since been removed, the page includes other casting calls for the film.
Where do we begin? From the "hottest of the hottest" girls with "great bodies," to the "fine" girls who "should be light-skinned," right down to the girls who are "not in good shape" with "medium to dark skin tone," this casting call reeks of so many problematic things -- most notably, colorism and sexism.
Sande Alessi Casting has yet to respond to the criticism. In the meantime, plenty of commenters have expressed their outrage on the company's Facebook page.
straight outta compton
We were certainly impressed with the casting of the flick's lead roles, including Ice Cube's son, O'Shea Jackson, Jr., depicting his father. But this move seriously has our skin crawling.
Just finished seeing the film, it was EXCELLENT!
and yes, Ice Cube's son looks like a fucking GOD omfg :wellheythere: Jesus FUCKING Christ
