Title: Technical question for tha TECH freaks (Mac)
Post by: Purple Moon on October 25, 2016, 12:04:37 PM
So I have this old Macbook which has 2 USB 2.0 ports (max speed 480 MBit/ Sec) and I was wondering if I can attach an external harddrive to it which runs with USB 3.0. Will it work with lower speed or is it a complete different connection?

:howfestive:

Looking to empty this old Macbook before getting a new one. Just FYI.  :raycharles2urmess: :sobusyjetsetter:

It'll work.
But it'll take a minute.

USB 3.0 ports are backward compatible, so yeah.

You just won't benefit from the speed bump.
