Title: Aaliyah fans
Post by: Scott. on November 22, 2016, 11:01:18 PM
So they just completely wiped all of Aaliyah's music off Apple music? I knew that her last three albums weren't available, but at least "Age Ain't Nothing But A Number" was available for streaming. Now all I see is "I Don't Wanna"

Why is her family like this? It's unfair to her fans and ppl who want to know who she was. They need to take notes from the Selena family on keeping a legacy alive.

Its not the family

QuoteSo the reason why Aaliyah?s music isn?t available for you to buy or stream is, you guessed it, is because of some messy music industry business involving Aaliyah?s former music label Blackground Records. The record sold hundred?s of the hit songs that were under their label (including most of Aaliyah?s music) to Reservoir Media Management. Reservoir Media Management now has full rights to her music after acquiring it in 2012 and are not releasing it to iTunes, apple music, spotify or any of the other beloved streaming services (any time soon at least).

Here?s a list of other songs that are in the same chokehold as Aaliyah?s catalogue

Aaliyah ? Aaliyah
Aaliyah ? One in a Million
Romeo Must Die Original Soundtrack
Ashley Parker Angel  ? Soundtrack to you Life
Toni Braxton ? Libra
Tank ? Force of Nature
Tank ? One Man
Tank ? Sex, Love & Pain
Timbaland & Magoo ? Welcome to Our World
Timbaland & Magoo ? Indecent Proposal
Timbaland & Magoo ? Under Construction Pt. II

My lil' brother was asking me about that "Street Thing" song (for some reason he seems to love 90s Hip Hop and R&B and he's only 16 lol) and I was trying to find it on Apple Music while I was driving and I was liKe "HUH?"

Like it would be nice to perch to iTunes and see her catalogue but honestly I don't really care.  Queen's presence is still heavy. The gorls are still getting in.  The father recently passed, I think Diane is sick, Rashad always seems over it judging by his tweets and Barry is shady as hell.

It sucks.

Resoviour know they're sitting on a gold mine, they're not sell the rights to her music or image to anyone

QuoteReservoir joins the millions of fans marking the fifteen year anniversary of Aaliyah?s passing this week. Since 2001, lovers of Aaliyah?s music have followed the whereabouts of her top-selling albums like One In A Million and Aaliyah, plus enduring hit singles like ?If Your Girl Only Knew?, ?Are You That Somebody??, and ?Try Again?.
As the music publisher of many titles performed by Aaliyah, our role is to represent her catalog?s songs, songwriters, and copyrights through careful administration and licensing, as it is our privilege to do. Our representation allows us to make this music available for licensing in films, TV, and advertisements; clear it for sampling in new recordings; celebrate its creative reinterpretations on sites like YouTube; uphold its rights in legal disputes; and support any new releases that may be made available to the public by record labels. While Reservoir is honored to work with songs written for Aaliyah in this capacity, we do not represent any songs written by Aaliyah herself, nor can we act as a distributor of any of her recorded music as a record label would.
We appreciate the public?s keen interest in Aaliyah's music, and remain committed as ever to protecting and respecting this beloved artist?s musical legacy.

Sounds like they'lol get it to eventually though
QuoteReservoir Media Management EVP Rell Lafargue estimates that there is enough leftover material for two posthumous Aaliyah albums, while Hankerson says that approximation might be "a little premature." Talks between Blackground and Reservoir began roughly 15 months ago for the latter to acquire the 500-song catalog thatv includes Aaliyah's archives, music from Static Major and albums from JoJo, Timbaland, Magoo and Tank. As part of the deal, Reservoir, a boutique publishing company with top 40 hits from 50 Cent, Madonna and Justin Timberlake, will market Aaliyah's music to television and film, as well as release songs to online services like iTunes and Spotify where much of her music cannot be currently found. Additionally, the company will assist with licensing of songs for covers and sampling (Lafargue notes that there are talks of Dr. Dre sampling "Rock the Boat" for a new song).

"Part of taking new music to market is to release old music as well in different forms. There are tons of old interviews, video, things that were shot before her passing will be part of any and all repackaging. There are alternate takes and different remixes that never got released," says Lafargue. "The one thing that was just confirmed, the demand, was Aaliyah's 10-year anniversary of her passing. The ratings on the BET special were huge for that network and there's a demand for it. I believe that we recognize the demand and want to give her fan

Out of curiosity, how much would her discography go for?

i was JUST looking that up but couldnt find anything on it... butttt i did see her networth is 10 mil.

How is her networth 10 mil when nothing is really being sold with her name on it?  like how is her brand making money right now to get that numbr?

Hmm, from what she left behind?

Nah, Jive were just the distributors. All of her albums have different distribution labels.

I think it's sad that newer people won't get a chance to hear her music unless they go on Youtube and watch her videos or hear a jam on the radio from time to time. They folks who hold the rights to her music are really shady for not giving it out. Her music would still sell now like it did back then because all her albums still sound so fresh and up to date. I was kinda hoping for an anniversary mess with unreleased songs, but I guess I CARE 4 U was all we were ever gonna get.

:stressed:

But for the poster who lost his Aaliayh discography I'll post all 3 albums plus all her singles on my Google Drive or Dropbox for you to download as you want.

The bottom line is that everyone involved has been trying to find the craftiest way to make money off her. Period. That Resevoir article may be factual but thats what it bouls down to. They dont give a fuck about the fans or her legacy. Honestly, her fans are the biggest asset to to legacy. Theres no 'responsible' way to distribute music anymore anyway.

Out of curiosity, how much would her discography go for?

i was JUST looking that up but couldnt find anything on it... butttt i did see her networth is 10 mil.

How is her networth 10 mil when nothing is really being sold with her name on it?  like how is her brand making money right now to get that numbr?
