Hold onto your weaves, because pop superstar Jessica Simpson is readying a musical return.

Before the Selena Gomezs and Ariana Grandes of pop music harbored immense influence, there was an elite team of bubble gum starlets that dominated the industry. One of those shiny examples was Jessica Simpson, who launched to stratospheric heights of fame around the time her peers Britney and Christina had, but she could never quite surpass them.

Here we are 15 years later, and Simpson owns a billion (yes, billion, with a ?b?) dollar fashion empire, but there?s still a void she needs filling: music.

Prior to the American Music Awards on Sunday, Simpson was feeling a little nostalgic. She shared a clip of her 2001 performance at the AMAs of ?I Wanna Love You Forever? on Instagram, and warned a comeback was imminent: ?Throwing it back to 2001 #AMA Bring it 2017.?

?I still think that people don?t really take me completely seriously,? Simpson said during a TV appearance promoting The Jessica Simpson Collection in 2015. ?I have some doubters out there. Hopefully it will continue to be around 10 years from now and then they will be wrong.?
She might rule the fashion world, but music is where her heart lies. ?That?s how I started, and that?s always one of my biggest passions in the world,? she continued. ?I love to use my voice.?

Very little is known about how her forthcoming release will sound, but we do know she?s teamed up with Linda Perry, the writer behind most of Christina Aguilera?s Stripped.
