Title: What makes you Jamaican?
Post by: Heated🔥 on November 30, 2016, 06:05:39 PM
A real Jamaican would tell you "If you weren't born in Jamaica then you're not Jamaican."
A lot of people consider themselves Jamaican just because they might have a relative who's Jamaican or just because they know some of the culture or simply because they have visited the country a few times.
But a typical Jamaican(born & raised in Jamaica) will tell you that you're not a true Jamaican unless you were actually born and raised in Jamaica.

A "real Jamaican" would stone you and call you a battyman, but an oxtail to you too

U gotta be born n lived long enough to speak and understand patois. If u werent born in JA, u gotta at least b able to do the latter and really understand the culture. I have siblings that grew up all their lives in NY. Both their parents are Jamaicans and they do understand the lingo and speak it if required. They listen to nothing but dancehall artists and have rly embraced the culture fully. I have a niece with 2 Jamaican parents and she is American to the bone.

Safaree for example is Jafakin. He's corny as shit and we dont claim him.
