But then there's the crowd that prefer a more stationary vocal-focused performance ala Mary or Jill

After 2/11 I just wanted her to give that but on a next level! She finally found herself as a "performer", no more stage frieght, we saw the confidence, swag, choreo that finally fit her, and vocals were on point... In addition it's the best I've ever seen her look... I personally thought she would invest more in the actual details of her shows to make it more quality like a production set, costume changes to add the extraness to her shows, some background singers etc...
The only thing that was a gift and a curse was Broadway... she enhanced all of her performance skills with that experience and I just knew her next tour is gon b epic... the curse to me about it was I ain't want her to bring Broadway to the actual tour thou just bring the extra skills she gained from it...

Hmmm I always think I want a intimate mic and bg singers kinda set from Brandy. But then when I see her performances w/ the dancers I'm most of the time shocked and impressed. She's delivered so many times when I was in doubt. Looking back on some of Brandy's earlier performances (choreo, styling, staging), what she's doing now seem like a return to that.
With that said I think if she keeps going the choreo route, I just want her overall image to match. Her image just doesn't match the type of performer she wants to be.

And the way that she killed the Chicago role, too. Brandy is the whole entire package. Amazing voice, personality, stage presence, dancing, young spirited. Why would you want her to hold back and only show part. Brandy has too much personality, and most of her music is uptempo, so dancing is appropriate for most of her songs.
And I hear more praise coming from the general public when she's dancing and singing.

I agree that I dont think bran wants ppul focused on her voice either but shes always given us quality voice and what shes presenting isnt "weaker" vocal points and she never has. her style accommodates her voice the ppul she still needs to wow will never be wowed by her voice and will always say

Not to always bring Bey into the mix but Bran has everything Bey does and more and true fans know it. Bran just has to work harder. I remember when the Bey comparisons were an everyday thing. It should still be honestly. Brans life and catalog is iconic. She shouldn't still be in search of sounds and ideas. So much of her life could be showcased as an in depth artist on stage if she shared and had better writers and direction.

Thats true. Brandy's always given me what I needed vocally. By saying the weaker vocal points I mean just that and how to the general public sees it. Most do perceive her as having a weaker voice but we as music fans know thats not the case. Thats just people perception that power is quality. Trying to check to see of you said anything I didn't just say but hey I agree with completely. Also at this point I know she has nothing to prove she just has to give us what we see in her full circle.

My fave Brandy peformance is the PID/WD medley she did at the Gay club. She did a lot of choreo and the NAILED it so dancing isn't really the issue. It's just the choreography recently hasn't been the best. She need to hire someone new.

Id like Bran and a NEW team to create something totally unique for Bran, performance wise. A mix of dance, sexyness, fun, Elegance, all with an exotic take, something that stand outs and become Bran's signature style, in her performances/videos.
I dont want Bran to follow Kelly's steps or Beyonce steps. Id love Bran to become really creative and most importantly ARTISTIC with the shows. something new each era. A new concept, new esthetic, costumes according to that concept....
will it happen? probably never :dead: , if she keeps thinking on Frank Gatson as her only and best option. But thats what Id really like for her.
and as a simple example, Top of the world video was the route, imo. That video, the colours, costumes.... it all stand out, it has a STYLE.
Solange gets that perfectly. Id love Bran to follow that route, more care and attention paid to the concept/style/esthetic. She can play and try different things on each video, not that she has to repeat the same one in all her videos/performances, but...... create something that stand outs and has a sense of art.

When I think of Bran, I've always envisioned her as the Celine, Aretha, Anita, Chaka, Whitney type legend. A light 1-2 step but not full choreo. I prefer more singing and less dancing from Bran. Not necessarily standing still but finding a nice middle ground. I think of Whitney songs like IYBT and IWDWS where she was able to give a light 1-2 but pretty much just sold her gorgeous face and animations. And even on stage, she'd do a light light but never too much. Which I think Bran is pretty much there but there are some songs (like full moon), where I wish she'd just stand there and sing. Re-work the song a little to make the vocal more dramatic so you don't NEED any dancers.

I remember around the Human era (I think), Courtney Barnes said that we were going to get Bran in beautiful gowns standing in front of a mic and just SINGING a la Celine Dion or the "black Celine Dion" or whatever. Obviously that never happened. I feel like we got a glimpse of what she could've given in that style from her BET honors performance.
I don't mind the dancing. I actually think she's a good dancer. It's the choreography that's tired Imo. If she insists on dancing I would like to see her step OUT of the choreo to sing the lead vocal LIVE the way she used to during 'Brandy', 'NSN' and 'Fm' eras (even though during fm there was barely any dancing because she was preg). That's the thing. Bran is not Whitney.
She can actually MOVE. She's no Janet however, she has a style & dances much better than her counterparts even during 'Afro' era. It just comes off cheesy because of direction/choreography.
