Solange is so dope. You can listen to full thing below, but she discusses albums processes/creativity, love for Brandy and how she helped influence "A Seat at the Table".
Excerpt:
Quote"The turning point happened when esentially, I was on Twitter professing my love for Brandy, who I'm a massive fan of, and there were a lot of white indie music critics who criticized this undying love for Brandy who's an R&B artist and I essentially challenged writers that if they were writing about R&B music they needed to know who Brandy was."

T4p
Brandy is literally the MOST influential R&B artist of all time LMAO! :feelinmyself:
Loves it and love Queen. Legendary self :stressed:
she begins discussing Brandy at 39:45!
YES! Solange is kinda iconic
I always thought Don't You Wait was Brandy-esque!!! Like a mixture of Deepest GOD and Open, IMO.
I sat here and listened to this entire podcast. If I didn't believe in Jah, I definitely believed now. He rewarded her with her moment when she decided to be true to who she is as a person and an artists. When the message was sincere and pure. God is so awesome. Don't always come when you want but always right on time.

!!!!!!!!! I think this is why she's more accepted rather than say Dawn. Her entire transition has been gradual. She allows the music to speak for itself while providing down to earth, honest commentary to push her message.
Ha impact!
Speak, Solo
🙌🏾
I connected so much with Queen Solange on this. She really preached.

And she unapologetically embraces her negro-ness and her black socialization.
I didn't think I could love Solo any more. :blessed: Ghan is the way, the truth and the light.
The way Dawn would have thrown Brandy RIGHT under the bus for these white ppl... come AWN solange in standing your ground!
Loved the interview, She is everything
Apparently Solo went more in depth about Ghan on a podcast with Questlove. The window to listen to the episode has expired unless someone ripped it. Testimonials:

I love her unapologetic way of stanning for Queen
She was definitely LASHING them that day

What I love about Solange is that she has no problem showing love to artists that inspire her.
You don't see that alot today with the new generation of artists.
Yet ppl still saying her fans deemed her "The Vocal Bible".
Her peers clearly worship her.
:letsmessfag:
I think Solange should definitely write for Brandy.
I'm sorr' but after this Quee' has no excuse but to act like a legend now.
I hope Ghan hears about this and that it brightens her day.
Dope.

Love this damn girl. I agree that she should definitely be a part of Bran's next project.
but i will say, i dont think brandy needs to "find herself"
creatively without label, Beggin and pleadin was fuckin crazy. All her own concept and totally left field

In my unbiased opinion, she's the most effortlessly creative R&B artist out there. Either everyone's making classic R&B (i.e. Tyrese's, Mary's) or trying to be edgy (i.e., Dawn's).
She's like the most non-pretentious, creative R&B artist there is.
Kwee' don't be running around talking about knights & unicorns & still can deliver 'Sweet Nothings', 'Drum Life' & 'Home'.

Preach Aqua and Rig.
I Love her!
Like how is your sister a multi millionaire superstar but your so humble! Like it doesn't even sound like she askes her sister for a dime.
she is just soo poised and wel spoken and humble .
I remember I bought solo star at Walmart and the lady there clocked tea lol. Like hmmm solange for you ? :justabit:

That's my fckn problem with her lately tho. Either gimme a greasy Shareefa mess out or do something completely artistic and edgy.
This in the middle mess is annoying, not mainstream enough to become a smash and not edgy enough to get the critics raving...
Critics stanned for Beggin. no one is doing that sound
it was super creative. Trap drums over a juke joint blues vocal? that shit was nuts. Idc how much it sold :dead: she was in her creative
ass BAG and didn't have to sound like a robot to do so ... lol. Wish we got an album
Soon as I heard and saw the visual for "losing you" by Solange I wanted her and Brandy to connect. I feel like the space Solange was in visually is kinda where Bran organically wanted to be.
However now that Solange has popped, I think Bran should pass. One thing In truely love about Bran is, she tends to intiate a wagon rather than hope on one. To think Bruno Mars wrote long distance, or her working w/ Frank Ocean super early. Hell even Frank Gatson worked on IWBD and the list goes on.
Bran does ride this middle ground of edge and mainstream. However, all her albums except 3 sounded so edgy @ the moment and only became normal over time. Full Moon and Afro sounded super edgy upon release! But after Justin, Nelly F., and friends hoped on the new Timbo sound it became normal.
I do want a concept album from Bran...I think FM is the closet she's gotten
n
I hope Brandy listens to this and chooses to remain an independent artist with just a dope management team (Jeff?) as oppose to her going to ANOTHER major label and having to deal with lack of control and industry politics. She's loved enough and respected enough that she can do it. Shit drop a surprise album with a few visuals and rack up another Grammy.
Brandy definitely should be more involved. It's obvious most of the songs she does come from her ideas and concepts. I hope she does like Solange did and lock herself in with her pen and just work on it until it's right. I hope she trusts her own process.
Brandy already has the ability to sing just about anything and make it sound good. If she really took the time to craft an authentic, raw, unfiltered body of work, then it might set her where she needs to be when it comes to critical acclaim. At this stage in her career, there's no need to chase the charts. If she releases a really great body of work that's in her own newly created lane, she'll solidify her legendary icon status. All it's going to take is a Grammy win or two and that's it. Then, we can stop hearing that other girl say the only one they have is together.
If Brandy releases an album that has great songs that play to her vocal strengths, releases a solid 4 or 5 singles, and has great visuals throughout the entire era, there ain't no stopping her.

Spot on! Except the 4 or 5 singles and visuals... All she need is another great body of work and a grammy! The great body of work more than the Grammy... Beggin n pleadin shows that when she releases music, GOOD music that doesnt sound like everyone else, everyone talks!
Just listened to the whole podcast... She's kind of amazing! And it's crazy to think that this one thing she tweeted about Brandy lead to her creating such an amazing, acclaimed body of work!

Brandy needs to release more music (singles) to the public. A lot of people used to love Brandy but are shocked when they hear that she still makes music. Crazy I know.
She's only released 6 singles stateside (if you don't include B&P) in the past 12 and a half years. A concept album with visuals may be just what she needs.
S/O to Solo she's real for this!
In terms of working w/ Brandy, I def would love for her to help Brandy visually more than anything, maybe some creative direction on her visuals/images for her upcoming music...
