Beyonce wants to record with jazz icon Tony Bennett.
The Lemonade singer is exploring every facet of music this year. Her genre-jumping record incorporates R&B, hip-hop and pop with country and rock, and now the Queen of the 2017 Grammy Awards wants to tackle jazz with the legendary singer.
Bennett says Beyonce approached him at an event with the idea.
?Beyonc?. She?s thinking of something to do with me,? the singer tells People. ?We met at a benefit, and she said, ?I?ve got an idea that we should do something together.? She didn?t tell me what it was yet, so we?ll see what happens!?
Coming for that jazz Grammy.
Earlier in the year, Bennett revealed he and Lady Gaga have plans to record a second jazz album together ? a collection of Cole Porter songs.
?I?d love to do a second album with Lady Gaga,? he says. ?She was performing at a benefit the first time I met her. I told her backstage, ?You were terrific! I?d love to do an album with you someday.? She said, ?Let?s do it!? Boom! We get along great. We?ve been close ever since.?
Gaga, as well as Elton John, Michael Bubl? and Stevie Wonder, will honor the Bennett at his Tony Bennett Celebrates 90 event, a two-hour music and comedy special airing at 9 p.m. ET on NBC, Dec. 20.
