Title: I'd have liked to see Paula Abdul progress musically
Post by: Admin on January 29, 2017, 03:27:34 PM
I mean, all the 80s pop girls managed to release some great albums in the 90s and 00s.
Just look at Janet and Madonna.
And Kylie even perfected her own sound after the millennium.

Why did Paula just stop after 2 albums? :dead:

Paula has more than 2 albums.

She had 3 albums but that's because Paula was more of a dancer that hummed a lil bit. I dont really consider her  musical at all.

Hmm, with the right people around, she could have slayed some more years.

I honestly used to love her. I remember seeing opposites attract and being mesmerized. I used to love when they would play her on pop up videos.  I ended up buying her first 2 cds

Because she's not musical that 3rd cd was the ABSOLUTE worst and it was just over for her

She danced better than Janet. and was prettier
She just didn't have IT or a sound and image to set her apart from the rest of the 80s fluff

Madonna and Janet aren't the best singers either. But they had an artistic vision. Paula just made music that was hot at the time.
Besides the 90s were more vocal driven...don't think she really would've stood a chance in a Toni, Whitney, Mariah, Celine type of mess out.

Yea janet and madonna had vision and artistry. and  despite their vocal shortcomings, they are still very musical.  They both actually sing better than paula too for what its worth

Paula was HUGE in her prime.

People like Janet were able to adapt.  I don't think Paula was here for being an artist.  She just wanted to dance.

What about that time Jackie Jacksons wife ran him over when she caught him on a date with Paula?  :plzstop:

She hurt her back after her 3rd album came out so touring (which was her bread and butter) was impossible to do :ATLcameo:

Then her marriage flopped with Charlie Sheen's brother and she got hooked on them pain killers

  :receipts:

Sis was on her way to a E! True Hollywood Story then American Idol kinda brought back her brand. She had that song, "All I Wanna Do Is Dance" then she had the dance show on Fox. Now sis is touring with New Kids on the Block and Boys II Men.

Straight Up>>>>>>

Her breakthrough single. The way labels used to believe in you back then. This was her 3rd single.  :dead:

And after 64 weeks on the Billboard's 200 her album finally peaked at No.1 it's definitely not how you start but how you finish.

Paula's music career reminds me of Tiffany's and Debbie Gibson's. Their music/sound was dead once 90s R&B took over radio. They tried their hand at it but failed miserably.

Paula on why she gave up her mega career

This makes sense, i did hear about issues with her legs or SOMETHING.  Paula had 3 albums and they were 7 and 3x platinum and gold, so she went out before things got too abysmal for her. Even her remix album went platinum. Paula was a force for 15 mins
