QuoteThe novel?s story follows Ruth Jefferson, a veteran African America delivery nurse at a Connecticut hospital who is assigned to a new case, only to find out the that the patient?s parents are white supremacists who don?t want Ruth to touch their child. The hospital complies with their request, but the next day, the baby goes into cardiac distress while Ruth is alone in the nursery. Does she obey orders or does she intervene? She chooses the latter, saving the baby, which violates an order, and she is charged with a serious crime. Kennedy McQuarrie, a white public defender, takes her case.

it's a lack of originality, but it's also studios not wanting to lose money. I'm sure there are screenwriters that depict black people as equals in their scripts, but they probably ain't gettin greenlit. They wanna perpetuate the black struggle because they know it's popular :dead:

even more sad when we think we're being done a favor when these white CEOs send these struggle stories into production, over the many Black Panther pieces that came before them. we don't NEED to see racism in film, because no one's ever going to understand the other side of racism. it's pretty much a general consensus that it's wrong. How many ways can filmmakers spin that? :uhh:
tbh I said I was sick of these movies until I watched Hidden figures. As long as they're not on a plantation being raped somewhere I can deal.
I remember hearing about this book
I might see

They only way niggers are acknowledged for Awards is if their portraying being oppressed by the white man :dead:
That narrative needs to change. These movies are not making whites any less racist or sympathetic towards blacks. These white directors just wanna make money :overit:
!!!
just love black history!
so long as they can get cut a check for it :plea:

This is people's story......STILL! If u don't wanna see it then don't go see it but some people appreciate these movies. Im sure the same people in here criticizing this are the same ones leaving "n" and "f" in all the other movies that aint about race, calling it late or something.

I do agree that we need a healthy balance. When are they finally going to make movies or series on the African kingdoms and the African gods.
