The attention-grabbing "Make America Great Again" dress Joy Villa wore at the Grammys appears to have led to a bump in sales for her music.
Villa's 2014 album, I Make the Static, was leading Amazon's top paid albums chart over albums from Beyonc?, Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga.
According to Nielsen Music, based on initial sales reports, the album sold 2,000 copies on Sunday in the U.S. -- up from a negligible figure the day previous.
The use of President Donald Trump's campaign slogan on the dress she wore Sunday drew a strong reaction from Trump supporters and critics on social media.
Villa explained her decision to wear the dress in an Instagram post, writing, "You can either stand for what you believe in or fall for what you don't." She added, "agree to disagree."
Villa has a history of wearing eye-popping outfits to the Grammys. In 2015, she showed up in a dress made entirely of recycled material.

Joy Villa's Grammy Trump Dress Yields 15,000 Album Sales in Two Days
Joy Villa, the singer who turned heads on the Grammy Awards? (Feb. 12) red carpet with a dress emblazoned with President Donald Trump?s slogan ?Make American Great Again,? is heading for her Billboard chart debut and big sales.
According to initial sales reports from Nielsen Music, the artist?s album I Make the Static sold about 15,000 copies in the U.S. on Feb. 12 and 13. In the days leading up to the Grammy Awards, the 2014 album sold a negligible amount of copies. The set ? which sells for only $4.95 in the iTunes Store ? could debut in the top 40 of next week?s Billboard 200 albums chart (dated March 4, reflecting the data tracking week ending Feb. 16), marking Villa?s first chart entry on any Billboard chart.
Based on reviews in the iTunes Store, it appears the album is generating sales largely from Trump supporters previously unaware of the singer. Reviews include sentiments like ?thank you for supporting TRUMP!! Will buy now! Thanks!,? ?I?m buying the album just because of the dress. Way to go girl!? and ?I don?t know this artist, but it doesn?t matter. I am supporting her bravery on Grammy night for standing for what she believes, whether others agree or not.?
Where were you Chrisette? :plzstop:

Joy Villa's Trump Grammy Dress Driving Possible Top 10 Debut on Billboard 200 Albums Chart
Singer Joy Villa -- who turned heads on the Grammy Awards red carpet by wearing a dress emblazoned with President Trump?s slogan ?Make America Great Again? -- has a chance of debuting straight into the top 10 of next week?s Billboard 200 chart with her 2014 album I Make the Static.
On Feb. 12 and 13, the album sold around 15,000 copies (according to Nielsen Music) -- up from a negligible figure in the days leading up to the Grammys. Industry sources suggest that if the album continues to be a surprisingly hot seller, it could move over 35,000 copies for the week, which could enable a top 10 debut (and grant Villa her first entry on any Billboard chart).
Based on reviews in the iTunes Store, it appears the album is generating sales largely from Trump supporters previously unaware of the artist.
