Title: Has anyone been watching The Kalief Browder story?
Post by: XXX. on March 28, 2017, 09:58:19 PM
Part 5 is tomorrow.

It is literally the most bone chilling story I have ever watched.

My heart breaks every week.

What's it about?
A Black guy who was falsely convicted
had a terrible time in prison then on the outside and committed suicide
to quickly summarize

Basically! He wasnt even a criminal to my knowledge before going to jail. It was so traumatic for him that when he finally got out he took himself out.  And mind u, the charge he got was false so he was in prison and it was unwarranted

What's disturbing is things like this get swept under the rug, and media outlets refuse to cover it.

And it's so strange, they'll cover riots when a black man is shot for weeks to follow, but no updates on this.

It should be trending news until a new law is in place, they could've never paid him back for the time they took.

What's it about?

Basically, it's what Ray said.

He was falsely accused of stealing a backpack and beating up this Mexican guy.  The Mexican guy was jumped a few weeks prior and became super paranoid of all black people and identified Kalief & his friend as the guys who robbed him when Kalief was walking home from a party.

Kalief went to prison for 3 years. He was beaten by guards, jumped repeatedly by the prisoners (too many times to count) because he wouldn't submit to being down with them.  He was starved, constantly abused, and attempted suicide multiple times. One time, after failing suicide, the guards beat him when they let him down from his noose.

The saddest part is he was In Solitary confinement for almost 2 of the 3 years.  Solitary confinement is literally torture in a small ass room, no windows, no one to talk to, etc.  He wouldnt even eat or bathe days at a time due to them not letting him out.

He got out, filed a lawsuit on the city and prison, got tons of media attention & celebrity support.... but the demons were so bad from prison that he hung himself in his mothers home.

It's a 6 part documentary detailing everything from all different angles.  And it's just tragic and crazy what he experienced at such a young age.  Only 16!

Everyone should check it out.
