Battle of the f'in titans. Queens :gorlonfire:
Who was more impressive? :letsmessfag:
Whitney was always superior vocally (in their primes).
All these lesbian undertones in this video and song. Whitney was so edgy.
Anywho this is 1 of my favorite Whitney songs.
Emotions is an ear sore to me. So Whitney by default.

Sure was. :feelinmyself:
Mariah showed out back then, though.
Legends :gorlonfire:
Whitney overall was better but I preferred Mariah's vocal delivery and versatility. And I prefer MC's music.
oh shit this is a hard one
ok .... Mariah killed her verses more, but she's always had that over Whit on uptempo songs
but it really comes down to the fckn BRIDGE on IYBT
:gorlonfire:
and the WHISTLE notes on Emotions
:stressed:
this is a str8 up DRAW imo
wow love them both but Emotions just slays me more :stressed:

Whitney, you beast, you. :plzstop: :stressed: :flamebroiled:
QuoteWhitney had an hour to record before the mall closed and she really wanted to go before close. The bridge of the song wasn?t even written yet. So she said let?s go, sang the song from top to bottom. Nailed it! Then Babyface wrote the bridge super fast so she could make it to the mall in time. Incredibly rare singer. She flew in and recorded the song so easily. That became Reid?s number 1 hot record. ?Everything about Whitney was special? said Reid.
Whew
It's a tie mess, I think

I Learned From The Best seems really hard to sing
I've never heard a decent cover of it yet

That's the year her voice began is tragic death. But I was talking strictly studio vocals. Whitney couldn't give what MC gave on the actual studio recording.
No shade to Mariah..
But Didn't they piece together two different runs to make it seem like one huge climax on butterfly ?
And also Mariah had a couple "off" live performances, even in her prime.
Whitney mastery over her instrument was better than Mariahs over hers
Whitney had so much PRESENCE on stage
If Mariah could perform and actually enjoyed doing so, I shutter to think what her tour records would've been like omf

The way MC sung the verses, the softness, the vulnerability, the transitions in and out of her head voice was great. Thats why I said previously MC 's vocal versatility is superior to Whitney's. Whitney gives more of a power vocal all the time. MC could give us a big vocal from start to finish but then give a soft, melismatic delivery. Of course Whitney could sing the song in her prime, just not the way MC could. Same thing applies for songs like Close My Eyes and Underneath The Stars. Thats all.

you clearly are not familiar with Whitney
did you even listen to the song in the OP?
Whitney is not a J Hud, always wailing type singer

Softness, vulnerability, etc are all things whitney was a master of. Butterfly is a beautiful song but lets be forreal, Mariah whispered thru that entire song up until the bridge. Iono what u think is so unsingable about that :kii:
Whitney pretty much did all the same shit in IWALY. Now what i would have accepted was u preferring Mariah's whisper rendition but u saying whitney couldn't give what she gave, as if that was some kinda supreme vocal, just sounds stupid

RIGHT! :dead:
Mariah easily.
This is not the song to chose to compare to I'm your baby tonight tho.
Carry on. Whitney is an absolute beast but Mariah is an beast too. Not sure why people acting like its a no contest type of thing.
😂
Ill never vote for a vocal other than Whitney (in her prime) .
Yea, whitney.........easily
Mariah, by far.
ssssssssssss
Whit is superhuman
Nothing like her since Aretha, took YEARS to come around
so are you telling me Whit wasn't SWEATING when that curly mixed mane started slaying the scene not even a decade after her :dead:
Back then they were definitely equal .... only vocally
Performance is a different thing to me

Lies. Lover for Life, All the Man, etc show beautiful transitions in and out of Whitney's head voice.
Her head voice was soft, clear, and pretty. Mariah's was cute, but more like airy whispers. :overit:
Whitney still had a cute performance here and there after her voice was shot.
Mariah? Well lol.
