Back To Basics was still pretty successful. That was also her last big tour.
Why are her fans lashing her like this?
https://www.google.com/amp/m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_59040f36e4b084f59b49f93e/amp
Imma say 3 eventho that basic era really didn't do that well

3. Back to Basics was still a very big seller and a huge tour for her. Won a Grammy and everything. It wasn't until Keeps Getting Better in 2008 that ppl said she was copying Lady Gaga and then that was the end of that.
2,5
B2B underperformed and then Amy released the album xtinct attempted to make and blew the lid on her whole "I'm an Artist?" facade :raycharles2urmess:
Her failing to be able to nail Hurt live was another nail on her casket.
Nah. As of 2013, Back To Basics sold 5 million copies worldwide. I think people forget it was a double album too which at the time was almost double the price of a regular CD. Just because it didn't do AS good don't mean it wasn't a success. I still consider The Heat to be one of Toni's successful eras.

It's crazy to think that her period of relevancy was really only from 1999-2007 (8 years), she's been a non factor for 10 years and counting. Basically she's been a flop for the majority of her career now. :receipts:

Her album wasn't double the price and it wasn't even long enough in recording time to be acknowledged as a double album. Loved when RIAA got her and Ron together for trying to gain double certificates because she couldn't take that Britney had two diamond albums the FAIR way.
All i know is back to basic barely went platinum back when and coming off a big era and considering who she was, that era DEFINITELY underperformed. She lasted 3 eras but that last one was rocky

she did have a Spanish album that sold very well and got her a Grammy. But that wouldnt count as an era rly.
as for her greatest hits album, I wouldn't count that as an era either. Maybe if it was as huge as Pink's Greatest Hits era with Raise Ur Glass and Fuckin' Perfect.
Wow 'tinct is getting DEMOLISHED in here.

It was a finish up the contract mess. She had put out 4 albums prior to that. Was kinda typical for artists back then.

Orrrrrrrr
it just shows that she's had MANY hits in a short span
it's allowed her to have a greatest hits.
not many artists can do that.
biggest thing that hurt christina was the long breaks between albums. when brit dropped her 1st album, her label made sure she ran in the studio to release another one to sell big numbers again. xtina takes too long.
Nah it meant she was done

And she always changed musical directions. She did the soul/throwback mess on BTB, and then tried the electronica route on Bionic (but failed).
I mean it's the same thing with Whitney vs Mariah of Toni vs Mary.

It only failed because people weren't ready for that sound at the time
which is a ki, because that sound became a trend after Bionic came and gone
the album is underrated and definitely ahead of it's time.

Right. Even her Back To Basics era was a big risk. Which is why I say its a successful era. There's no telling what kinda music she woulda put out if she had just stuck to Pop/R&B infused tracks. Shit, even Dirrty was a risk.

Well, it failed commercially and creatively. I love the songs she did with Santigold, M.I.A., Switch and Ladytron. I think that was the overall direction she wanted to go. But the Tricky Stewart and Polow Da Don songs messed the whole album up imo. I read RCA pressured her to do those songs. Like, they scrapped the Goldfrapp song for trash like Prima Donna. :uhh:
