Title: How do you respond to compliments?
Post by: CHOKE on June 26, 2017, 12:55:22 PM
Its something I've always had trouble with

My friends say when I say Thanks it sounds condescending

Am I in the wrong?

I think it's all up to interpretation
I'm really big on manners so.. if someone gives me a "thanks".. and that's it..
I can't stunt like this doesn't make me think ur ungrateful or just saying it cuz u believe at the right thing to do

As long as u say thank u tho.. u shouldn't be worried or bothered.

I usually say "not really but thank you" or something along those lines.

I usually just say thanks

And if it's a compliment on my clothes I'll try to compliment something they're wearing

But that to me is fake because usually I'm lying

Why would u be wrong for saying thanks after someone gave u a compliment

its not wrong it just sounds impolite and uninspired

Depends on how you say it

I'd say nothing. Growing up I was always told I was fat and ugly. Even now seeing that I've grown into myself. I still don't believe people are genuine with compliments. So hearing them just feels awkward.

This is edgy

So you don't even acknowledge the compliment?

When I'm really feeling my box I do act like I can't hear compliments when I walk through a large crowd

I don't.
I don't need anyone to stroke my ego or for them to think they will get a compliment in return.  :raycharles2urmess:
