I got wholeheartedly what she was saying. Bitch, its september. Why tf would my son be going trick or treating? I dont agree that it makes her racist tho. I think that she is what alot of white people are, ignorant.  Not at all familiar with African culture and instead of asking a sensible, rational question, she asked some ignorant shit like that.  I liked what the momma said about being in a black neighborhood but not taking the time to make yourself aware of things in the culture

But African garments are not apart of Black American Culture, some African Americans are just as ignorant to this as any white woman, so I dont feel that was a valid argument. Ignorance doesn't always have to have a race, and to be honest, white women are not driving to work at a Family Dollar in the hood. More than likely they live in that neighborhood also. She definitely had a right to be upset, sometimes if you go overboard people stop listening to the points that you are making. As an adult there was definitely a better way she could have asked them why they were dressed up. My last two cents is, this outfits do look more Halloween the "African Cultural attire" and  I've been to Africa a few times and have never seen anyone dressed up in some Dragon Ball Z Mess like this.  :dead:

i agree with a lot of what you said, but unless you've been to every nook and cranny within Africa, I don't think ur final statement holds any weight :dead: it isn't all one country. Africa is many many things and I'm sure you actually would see this somewhere

But ignorance always manifests itself differently in white people IMO. They say stupid things, ask stupid questions, wanna "black it up" around black people, etc
Can I touch your hair
No, I'm not an exhibit at some museum. This is my opinion and I'm not budging on it

But I do agree with what u said about her handling that better. Its not her obligation to enlighten this woman but it was a teachable moment.  It IS your obligation to instruct your children on how to deal with people & teach them conflict resolution skills.  Personally, i don't feel this was the way either.  I agree with her anger but there was definitely a better way to handle this.  Your duty is first to your children.  They are gonna face ignorance tons more in life and cussing people out shouldn't be the first line of defense

You're right, I know this, Africa is very diverse, I've been to West Africa, East Africa, Northern Africa and Southern Africa, not every country but many. Yes you may see people wearing something like this, but in very remote areas, or for certain celebrations, not just randomly walking down the street.
