Cuz Big Freedia's dancers are giving him the BUSINESS now
Soon as they saw that he was recently able to pay 35K to the government in court to satisfy the judgement about him stealing Section A funds years and years ago, they were like wtf. :uhh: :uhh:
He says that he makes sure they're fed, able to tour, have "money in their pocket", etc. But money in the pocket could mean 10 dollars for a minor emergency. That's not a salary. :plzstop:
Freedia is kwee which is why I always tune into the show but this made me side eye her a bit.

But I can honestly tell you it depends on the job, the agency you're signed with (if one at all), the label you're working for, the artist, how established you are in the industry as a dancer, etc.
I heard stories about Beyonce lowballing, because she knew she didn't have to pay top dollar. And the exposure dancing for her evens out the pay, because you'll be able to book any job after working with her.
And honestly, commercial dance is a dying genre. There's not many artists that dance anymore.
So, the pay is not very great. And the jobs are highly competitive.
I used to date a dancer/choreographer, and it's not as glamorous as it looks. Long hours, under appreciated & shitty pay.
Afro, that post was one I found from someone who was in the business for years who said they were working for Michael Jackson at one point.
So, I'm sure the rates have likely lowered since then.
Beyonce ain't paying dancers $500/day to shoot. Trust!
I heard she paid the dancers SHIT when they filmed "Run The World" over 3 days. And a lot of dancers were PISSED about it.

Yeah I think these are people that Freedia literally yanked off the streets with no representation.
I think it was easier for him to hand them a #2 from Mickey Dees here and there and a lil pocket money and them be OK with it. They don't know what his bank account was looking like unless he told them. but once they saw him shell out 30k like it was bus fare they were like :guys:
I take my hats off to people who are willing to stick in there for the love of the art. Cuz ch....I needs my coins.
!!!!!
If you don't have an agent, you're honestly not getting paid shit. There's Union laws and mess that dancers have to be paid at a certain rate and no lower than that.
And I'm sure Freedia's dancers were girls fresh out the basement making up routines. :kii:
THEir dumb asses should've made contracts prior to going on any damn tour. Oh happy to work! Exposure! Glad to be here!
The nasty truth is a lot of ppl do things for free or close to in the entertainment industry. Especially music and fashion since there is no SAG like in Hollywood to protect ppl from being used and abused.

I think the issue is - the problem seems to be with his male dancers..one of whom have a child that he's trying to support.
He needs to realize that there's only so much child support that twerking behind Freedia will cover. Freedia can very easily find someone younger, more skilled and thirstier from the streets. So I see both sides.
Hope he keeps the other one - Flash . :ohwow:
