01/01/18 update:
I was initially surprised by the amount of Asian. Very uncommon. Initially I wrote it off as and assumed it was Native DNA (that the test was mistaking it for Asian - which does happen), but her 2nd cousin took the AncestryDNA test and showed high amounts of what they label as Polynesian DNA.
So instead of me interpreting the Asian DNA as something else, it most likely is just Asian DNA. It appears we have Polynesian/Melanesian roots. Or at the very least, an unusual amount of Asian heritage.
Also, Scandinavian & Polynesian DNA have very similar profiles. Her European DNA came in completely Scandinavian - 7.8%.
(Scandinavian was also my top European result on Ancestry.)
She still has the Native American connection, showing purely at 0.9%. I think that's honestly the extent of the connection there, genetically. It would make sense , considering that connection is back to 1600's based on my research.
My grandmother never really knew her father's side of the family - which is where this ancestry comes from. I've been lucky enough to find them as a result of her testing. Here are some of their faces.

Months ago, for fun I asked a few strangers if they could guess where I am from by looking at a pic. A lot of them actually guessed Asian/Polynesian/Pacific Islander. So it's amazing to see this is actually a part of who I am.
What's interesting is that a few of them actually SPECIFICALLY guessed Southeast Asia...which is where Polynesian roots are linked. Amazing.

Do you know if you have Lumbee Native Heritage? It looks like they were prominent in North Carolina.

Yeah.
I traced the Native line back to the 1600's. Our roots are Cherokee.
which is hilarious cuz its so cliche. :plzstop:
But she's closely related to the Lumbee . We have Locklear relatives, Goen, Lowry, Oxendine, etc.
Aw this is a nice Christmas gift for her, the best kind.
