Unbreakable shits on DP, even though it still sounds current.
I appreciate it more because it's autobiographical and sincere
She took the social awareness factor from RN and the Autobiographical lyrics from Velvet Rope, and referenced some of her best work on it
She did 3 'fun' albums back to back, Damita, 20 Y.O & DP
It's time for something more deep and adult IMO
You can tell she wasn't trying to do anything with this album
It's all effortless and it's quite timeless save 1/2 songs.
I mean she's 50 next year, if she came back with DJ Mustard and Bangladesh people would have read her the same way they read Madonna for trying to be current and young :dead:
n
Unbreakable honestly had me floored! Some songs grew on me (Black Eagle, Well Traveled) but I loved alot of it from first listen (Shoulda know betta, Night, Euphoria).
With discipline not so much. I wasn't wowed by anything but I liked most of it in general.
As for Tamar I really dont like her music. Both projects were the same re-hashed R&B and not the nostaligic kind like with Janets album. Its that dated approach to love songs that sound very kitschy. She over sings IMO which is irritating. If I have to say 1 thing positive it's that she reminds me of Toni in her lower register.
fuck Janz but I absolutely love Rock With U so that alone slays Unbreakable. But Unbreakable is a good album still.
Don't know the other one.
UB > everything.
The latest from both
Discipline isn't a terrible album, especially compared to current albums, but it's not a Janet album nor do does it fit her classic's standards. Unbreakable, however, is absolutely amazing!! Anyone who says otherwise just doesn't get its' depth. She covered so many genres and types of music and the fucking lyrics alone>>>

I get into the album more and more each day. It took me a while to fully get into
The Velvet Rope too. I spend more time listening to certain songs at first then I get slayed when I give other ones more spins.
