It seems like Kendrick Lamar is looking to add acting to his considerable list of talents. The Compton rapper explained in an interview with BBC Radio on Thursday (Feb. 22) that he plans to appear in the next Black Panther film. He doesn't mean just a little cameo, either. Kung-Fu Kenny wants to play the role of a super-villain on the level of Michael B. Jordan's polarizing character Eric Killmonger.
Kendrick shared that Killmonger was "loved and misunderstood," and he'd go that route if given the choice. Lamar already had a heavy hand in the blockbuster film, crafting the movie's soundtrack with spots for his TDE labelmates SZA, Schoolboy Q, and Jay Rock, as well as up-and-coming Bay Area rappers SOB x RBE.
Black Panther continues to run amok at the box office, with the film grossing another $108 million during its second weekend on screen, for the second highest second weekend of all-time behind Star Wars: Force Awakens. To date the movie has raked in more than $400 million in U.S. theaters and was soaring past $700 million worldwide as of Sunday (Feb. 25).
