Taylor Swift Scores Fifth No. 1 From '1989' on Pop Songs Chart
'Wildest Dreams' hits No. 1 on the airplay chart, becoming the fifth leader from 1989. Only Katy Perry's Teenage Dream has generated more toppers ? six ? on the list.
Swift scores a fifth No. 1 from her album 1989 on Billboard's radio-based Pop Songs airplay chart (dated Nov. 7), as "Wildest Dreams" lifts 2-1.
Prior to her latest leader on the Nielsen Music-measured Pop Songs chart, the first four singles from 1989 all reigned: "Shake It Off" (for two weeks); "Blank Space" (six); "Style" (three); and "Bad Blood," featuring Kendrick Lamar (five). ("Blood" also set the chart's record for the most plays in a week: 17,474 on the July 25 list.)
1989 is just the second album in the Pop Songs chart's 23-year history to yield at least five No. 1s, and the first such set churned out a record six: Katy Perry's Teenage Dream. The 2010 set bore the Pop Songs champs "California Gurls," featuring Snoop Dogg (seven weeks); the title track (four); "Firework" (four); "E.T.," featuring Kanye West (six); "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" (six); and "The One That Got Away" (one).
