MTV will honor actress, screenwriter and producer Lena Waithe at this year's MTV Movie & TV Awards by presenting her with the Trailblazer Award.
The distinction is given to a fearless individual in the entertainment industry, and Waithe has been exactly that. The Ready Player One star was the first woman of color to win an Emmy for outstanding writing in a comedy series (for Master of None) and continues to be an advocate for the LGBTQ community. Most recently, she rocked a rainbow pride cape on the Met Gala red carpet.
