Katy Perry sat down to discuss love, fame, and mental health for the cover story of Vogue Australia's August issue, out July 23.
Never one to shy away from candid dialogue, Perry discusses her journey with mental health.
"I have had bouts of situational depression and my heart was broken last year because, unknowingly, I put so much validity in the reaction of the public, and the public didn?t react in the way I had expected to ? which broke my heart," Perry says of receiving less than stellar reactions to 2017?s Witness album.

First time she actually flopped
Sis did get too cocky
She didn?t care that much since she?s still walking around looking like Ellen. Throw a wig on bitch, it?s the least you can do. :uhh:
QuoteLast winter, the singer attended a personal growth retreat at the Hoffman Institute, seeking rejuvenation. She continues to say that the feeling of brokenness coupled with opening up to a higher power gave her a new foundation.
The retreat acted like a system reboot for Perry, who believes that "essentially and metaphorically, we are all computers, and sometimes we adopt these viruses via our parents or via the nurture that we are given or not given growing up." These toxic tendencies can "start to play out in our behavior, in our adult patterns, in our relationships." From the start of the retreat, she was ready to "let go of anything that was holding me back from being my ultimate self."
I'm glad that she's getting help
Seems like sis has been thru a lot including that era

Miscarriages, underperformances and failed marriages will do that to ya.
i dont really like her anymore, but at least she's admitting that she flopped.
take care of yourself, depressed sister!
Bon Apetite is still a bop!
During the livestream I noticed she really wanted to help people, talk about certain subjects and be a role model..but somehow she wasnt ready to play that role, she seemed a bit uneducated/clueless sometimes.. (I wonder if she ever graduated) I am glad she is taking time to heal. Even Rupaul said that she is finally at a stage to grow up and deal with problems, he said something about how fame at a young age prevented her from becoming a real adult.
It's what she deserves

It is.
The album is no worse than the trash out there already. IMO, there?s no real valid reason why albums flop today because some of these biggest selling albums and songs today are trash. It?s not an opinion, it is a fact. What happened to her was political because pop music is no longer in vogue. All the pop girls underperformed, Taylor Swift included.
That?s been evident.
Depression is a trend again huh

I mean she's a pop artist.
Their shelf life is usually 8-10 years regardless. But pain! Suffering!
Exactly and the music wasn?t that good. Prism really sucked so she was lucky she lasted as long as she did.
These pop girls are weeaaakk...
Their demise is nothing like the r&b girls..
Our faves could only get one single and it 8/10 had to feature a rapper. No prime time promo slots etc, no tours etc

Haven't used since Teenage Dream
Aww queen. I used the album, but the reality is the core of her fanbase are reaching the age where pop fluff and fun doesn't hit the way it used to. That's her brand tho. So the conscious music with a pop twist was not what people needed/expected. And the stans didn't know how tob receive a lot of the material
