Title: Fox Developing Megachurch Drama
Post by: asdfghjkl on November 02, 2015, 10:32:43 PM
QuoteIn the untitled Fox project, when a celebrity televangelist dies mysteriously, his family fights to salvage their Houston-based megachurch and ?inspirational? media enterprise. Their cause is disrupted when the pastor?s illegitimate son (with a criminal past) returns to stake his claim on his father?s legacy.

Breece grew up in a large black church in Washington, D.C., with family who were religious but always accepting of him as an openly gay young man. Breece became interested in the world of celebrity preachers after visiting a popular megachurch in Southern California, feeling that the super-sized, high-tech, high-energy world would be the perfect backdrop for a dramatic series about people striving to inspire others while struggling with personal issues of loss, identity and the primordial battle of good vs. evil.

Breece is a graduate of Harvard and USC?s Peter Stark Producing Program. His first screenplay Ball was honored as a top 10 finalist for the Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting, and his short film The Young And Evil was an official selection at the Sundance Film Festival. Breece, who most recently was a writer on Steven McQueen?s Codes Of Conduct for HBO, is repped by CAA, Kevin Donahue Literary Management and Melissa Rogal.

This is the latest series project to tackle the world of megachurches. OWN earlier this year greenlighted drama series Greenleaf, from Craig Wright and Lionsgate TV, about a powerful family and their sprawling megachurch, where scandalous secrets and lies are as numerous as the faithful. The series is filming, with Oprah Winfrey set for a recurring role.

now why are they doing this when oprah's show is already filming  :dead:

either way i'm perched for both

Very messy. But at least it's not a reality show.
