Maxwell is bringing the soul to 2018's U.S. Open tennis tournament, as he's officially slated to perform the national anthem at the opening night ceremony.
The Grammy winner's performance will follow Kelly Clarkson's headlining set at Arthur Ashe Stadium just outside NYC. This year's ceremony is particularly noteworthy, as the U.S. Open is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
The U.S. Open starts on August 27 and runs through September 9. Tennis fans who can't make the flight out to New York can catch the action on ESPN or the WatchESPN live stream.
Maxwell is fresh off his 50 Intimate Nights Live tour announcement, which kicks off September 27. Later this fall, the crooner will be releasing a 20th anniversary reissue of his 1998 smash album Embrya
