Oh god, guess we're gonna have to be completely literal for the sake of perspectives not being misconstrued.
As I mentioned earlier, 9 has a point. However lets not discount the impact of social media. I also would like to point out that no one can just diagnose someone without seeing a professional. Unfortunately mental health access and stigma related to mental health is still a barrier in our community. Im interested in how many ppl are actually going to see mental health professionals to confirm and treat their condition. So...yeah....
Yall kill me with the sporadic moments of seriousness for a given subject, shit.

probably because "she" has made a completely fake online persona and is really a 60 year old man?
Like at my workplace were quite open with mental health, we all talk about our experiences etc but there's this one botch who goes the EXTRA mile, it went from anxiety to bipolar, depressions, manic episodes that only happen on the weekends (never at work suspiciously) feelings how low level sadness then hyper happiness :uhh:

It has turned into a source for ki?s on social media, but maybe that?s a coping mechanism for some. I just wish people would stop using mental illness as justification to be shitty people in general.
In all seriousness, I think they?ve just been given bigger platforms. Same thing with autism in children: it didn?t necessarily increase but awareness is bigger than 10/15 years ago..
If someone feels they are depressed then that's what it is and I'm not following up with a barrage of questions. are u clinically diagnosed? Can i see the papers stating so? Etc
If that's how u feel then that's how u fckn feel. Ur clearly feeling some type of way in ur life, so speak on it. People are entitled to voice what they feel. Let these people feel how they feel. If they ask questions about getting it properly treated or sumn then that's when advice can be solicited. :dead:

fair point but definitely unlikely. Depression seldom looks like a pic with ur ass tooted with a long-winded caption every 2 weeks tho.
Like most things on SM, lil "lite" mental issues can be used to garner attention
I mean that may be a clear sign also. There are different levels of depression. While Most people haven't felt the deepest level of depression, where you can't get out of bed for weeks on end. Most do feel depression to the level that they feel an internal sadness, hence why they do things like drugs, alchol, sex, social media thirst trapping.
Alot of us truly don't know how to heal our selves, and we think things like that makes it better. But it's only temporary, people do things that make them feel good in the pain, especially attention. To help them not face it. Not realizing they are just feeding that black hole, instead of healing it and becoming whole.

I agree with your point, I did want yall to talk more about mental shit. Even though you niggas want to act oblivious about the impact of attention on social media which is the entire fuckin point of the thread so let me draw a parallel....
Remember at 1 point in time social justice issues, racism, colorism, all that shit was seldom talked about until recently? Ppl had shit opinions about race until it became a universal topic in discourse. Now If you didn't know how to talk about race or injustice you are "socially unaware" to some or not "woke". Niggas go to great lengths to try to appear to be right? To keep that social inclusion with the collective.
Yall talk all day about niggas tryna fit in and now that the convo has shifted to healing and wellness yall cant see the same

I can't stand when people do that shit
A serious depression or anxiety condition actually gets in the way of living an unrestricted life. But a lot of these "attention seekers" seem to have a normal life with a stable social environment.
A friend of mine does that. Sometimes he would mention that he's having a "depression" because of some casual shit. Or he likes to reblog these corny memes about depression/anxiety/feeling dead inside which are just unfunny. I've known him for almost 10 years now, I know that he's a bit of an attention seeker and can be egocentric. Also he's one of those people that thinks if someone kills themselves they're selfish cowards, and that alone kinda made me realize that he probably has never been THAT depressed.
Maybe I'm being insensitive and these feelings are totally valid, but I think if it's really serious, you should go and seek a therapist and/or go on medication instead of boasting on social media how dead inside you are.

Ok, Lemme restate. I don't
think I have Bipolar disorder, nor do I want it. My grandma, Mom and brother are all bipolar so i know first hand that it's a lot to deal with. My grandma has actually been urging me for a couple of years to see a professional because my behavioral "patterns" are reminiscent of hers before she was diagnosed but like...I don't wanna be bipolar and have to take meds and that stigma of being called bat shit crazy :diddraispoot:
Anyway, to answer your question... I deal with a great deal of the symptoms. The way i will legit burst into tears for seemingly no reason and then be sad for a few days and then start feeling my happiest fairly quickly after.
Or talking and thinking too quickly. Or my excessive online shopping habits (which I've talked about on here). or when i'll lash out at someone over VERY insignificant things. The smallest shit will cause me to blow the fuck up sometimes & i'm just sitting there like whoa :calmdownsis: Sometimes I will have an overwhelming amount of energy during the day after like 2 hours of sleep and other days i'm barely able to function and focus with a FULL 8 hours. I didn't really see these symptoms within myself and behavior until it was all outlined in a few psych classes that I took freshman/sophomore year. I don't know if it's bipolar disorder, I could just be a moody bitch or it could be something else, but there is clearly something wrong. I don't think u need to be fckn Sigmund Freud to be able pinpoint ur OFF behavior

I do think ppl can feel these symptoms
Yet i strongly believe they should go get diagnosed because our daily happenings can easily be misconstrued as something deeper than it?s not
I?m currently being stalked by this girl on some fatal attraction shit.. who suffers from bipolar disorder and several suicidal attempts
I really do wish people would go get the help they need.. if u feel it.. go get it analyzed and monitored

I don?t think this article is in direct alignment with your statement
They begin by acknowledging that mental health issues among celebs is genuine and didn?t mockingly use quotation marks as you did to imply that their challenges aren?t real.
Still reading but...

!!! a gteat example of this is winter is coming and everyone is gonna come and talking about depression when it's not, it's literally your mood is effected from the lack of Vit D from the sun.
That doesn't mean you HAVE depression, a lot of people don't know the difference between FEELING depressed and actually suffering from depression.
That's what Bre is talking about.

Funny how certain people all of a sudden are taking mental health seriously now, or at least on a surface level, despite never talking about it or even mentioning before.
I guess I got them talking and thinking about it, which is a good thing I guess.
guess lol

Why do you think you're bipolar, Kae?
fjKLDA:JJJJJJJJJJJFIOSDJMKFD:LKFJI
Ok, Lemme restate. I don't think I have Bipolar disorder, nor do I want it.
Aw sis  appreciate the transparency
a couple of keywords?
cute lol
but I got my point across yall can have this now

Do you REALLY need a counselor to know how you're feeling....
Well if you want the help then yh lol
There's so many conditions, your depressions could actually just be low level mood or lack of vitamin D
Do you have bi-polar or are you just going through a stressful time
Its hard being in the field when u are mentally ill yourself though, it can give u empathy but also trigger you. I gave up graduate school for this reason.

It?s kinda like that saying ?did you really have a bad day, or was it just a bad moment or 5 minutes that you?re simply holding on to and milking for the rest of the night?
It?s good to challenge yourself and ur thoughts if possible. Easier said than done of course, so i don?t judge anyone either way. Everyone?s mental makeup is so different
dgjnkgggggggggggg
idk it is kind of hilarious to me how some of these depressed and anxiety ridden people are so damn stereotypical. These Edgar Allen Poe type girls.
Like I'm a ball of bubbly sunshine and can be the life of the party if I want to be, but literally no one believes me when I tell them I have anxiety, but i've actually ended up in the hospital because I've had a panic attacks that I thought I was gonna die from.

I really don't wanna deem my angelic lights and become like you guys. But pretty soon having HIV is gonna become a trend seeing how things are going now.
This new generation just needs to all be packed up in a rocket and sent to live on the moon.

Maybe I'm taking this personal because of the things I've dealt with. Sometimes, I can be happy on Monday and on Tuesday, I'm depressed af and don't know why. Can't even get out of the bed for days. One thing can trigger me and I'm out of it for a while.
And the whole "people claiming to picked on at a young age" thing being called a "trend" really struck a nerve because I've been open about my childhood turmoil with being "picked on".
But hey.
not comparing HIV to a mental disorder

Be safe hun and please l beg of you. If you have bushes to they entrance of your home/Apartment. Hire someone to cut them down. There's no telling if that person is hiding in the bushes. That's their trademark mode of attack.
