Mary J. Blige celebrated her 48th birthday in style. The legendary hip-hop soul singer posted a series of photos on Instagram, in which she?s posing beachside, clad in a revealing, pink leopard bikini. ?LIVING MY BEST f**kin LIFE!? Blige captioned the images.
The sun-soaked singer looks pretty great in the series? first two photos, in which she?s stunting for the camera with all the confidence you?d expect from a woman who has nine Grammys to her name. The third photo in the set shows Blige hanging on the picturesque beach with a large group of friends, for what has to be an early contender for best birthday party of the year.
It?s the perfect way to kick off what?s set to be a huge year for Blige, who stars in Netflix?s hugely anticipated series, Umbrella Academy, based on the ultra-popular comic book by My Chemical Romance front man Gerard Way. Blige will play a villain named Cha-Cha, in a story about a group of estranged superhero siblings who must reunite to track down their father?s killer. According to TV Line, Blige?s character is a "ruthless and unorthodox hitwoman who travels through time to kill assigned targets.?
And for those of you worried that Blige?s burgeoning acting career might take her away from her time in the studio, we?ve got some very good news. She?s also set to release her fourteenth studio album, called My Life II... There's Something About Me, Myself & Mary Jane (Act 2), sometime later this year. Her last album, 2017?s Strength of a Woman, featured guest appearances by Quavo, DJ Khaled, and Missy Elliott, to go along with Blige?s towering vocals. Details about the follow-up have so far been scarce, but if her birthday Instagrams are any indication, Blige already has this year on absolute lock.

Mary is one of my all time faves. But she is at the point she just needs to STOP. Her voice is completely shot and her creativity just isn?t there. These past 3 albums have been borderline embarrassing to a major fan like myself and it just brings down her legacy. And to top it off, trying to recreate a classic time in her career is just impossible. We loved ?My Life? for the real and raw emotions. The bitch WENT through it. She was STILL going through it. Now superstar Mary J just isn?t in the same place.
Love love love you Mary, but we just have to let this go. Give us a tour here and there, but let?s us appreciate the greatness you gave us and honor your legacy before it continues to be tarnished....
I?m sorry but only one album that wasn?t really well received by the masses was London session and that?s becase it?s was a different concept and sound for her., but it?s still her best reviewed album since The Breakthrough,, let?s not act the last album didn?t spawn two #1 singles at Urban Radio one of which was #1 for 17 weeks and ushered in Camper?s new sound ,, as far as her voice shes never been a powerhouse????? I think and know Mary is still very much relevant
The last three albums slayed. Even though her voice is aging, which is normal. I think she needs surgery on her vocal nodules.
All the legends have gone through periods where their voices are shot. It happens to all of them but they come out the other side.
Mariah sounded a mess but is sounding better recently.
Gladys voice was shot for many years but now she sounds amazing.
Patti had issues for a while but not long.
Aretha's voice was shot for a period too.

Even Think Like a Man Too was great.
Just being an honest fan. Hearing all of the studio magic all of her vocals is just heartbreaking. And yes, Mariah should have stopped as well.
