King is shaking the table a bit
older black people and their obsession with public perception will always be a ki to me
every little thing traces right back to how "they" see us
i'm sure there's a way to denounce materialism and unhealthy images that doesn't include mocking people for wearing jewelry or dancing
I agree.
I wear Fendi, Gucci and Chanel because I want to. Not for the clout.
Come back King

I think it's bigger than how others see it
At least for me. Materialism and the promotion of it is really damaging to the community - forget about what it looks like to White folk. You have people running out to purchase items they can barely afford and getting their homes foreclosed on and eviction notices pinned to their doors.
It's very toxic to the community. Probably one of its biggest challenges - and the promotion through rap has a lot to do with it. Flossin' on the gorls like you see in music videos but your lights are turned the hell off. :omf:
Glad he's speaking on it.
This is very true, but this is the problem with African Americans. We are so happy to have that we show it off in an extreme way. Those without anything are not even taught that steps to be successful because we brag when we make it and want it to be exclusive to us. How many times a rapper go on instagram and use what they have as inspiration. No, tell us about how you hustled, tell us how you think, how you got past the mental road blocks and how to persevered after being told no. How you did not become a victim to your environment. I really love listening to Jay Z , many rappers can learn from him. Showing a garage with 3 Bentleys is not teaching us anything. We have to learn to educate each other like the Jews.
There are groups of people who literally make billions and billions off of dumb niggers. If you don't think Jews, Arabs, Asians and whites don't sit and have conversation about dumb niggers, and how to profit off of us you are silly.

Basically. I think a lot of what you mentioned is a big hurdle that stands in the way of more Black owned businesses emerging.
Those Asians are super successful with their MESS in our own communities because they really stick together and look out for one another - not just their family but they really see their people as one unit.
But to be fair, they don't have the history of slavery in their rear view nor that letter from Willie Lynch (which has yet to completely disintegrate) hovering over their communities.
It really takes an individual awareness for us to fight the battles we face as a collective - people who come here from other countries voluntarily have all of their battles right in front of them on paper which should make things easier to navigate. There's nothing deeply hidden for them to uncover and address that is stopping them from helping the next person who looks like them.
Right , but this is the topic that has to be discussed. I actually feel that most celebrities have removed a lot of the "stigmas" of growing up black. They have confidence in themselves, driver, ambition and THIS is what they should sell. They skip 10 steps and show you the mansion and the bentley.
Theres a book I read called the Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome and it really opened my eyes to so many things. It really break down how many insecurities that blacks have. I have seem this all of my life, in my own family, under estimate and under value themselves. Its crazy how much damage has been done.
