I had a discussion with a relative about her struggles relating to her daughter who has low self-esteem due to severe acne.
I brought up the importance of acknowledging her own privileges (being pretty her entire life, light-skinned privilege) and how that affects the way she's been able to move through the world with ease. She tried to deny that pretty privilege was a thing, but it most definitely is lol. I personally think that everyone has some form of privilege.
I can acknowledge that I have straight passing privilege, which has allowed me to live a heteronormative life and essentially ignore the issues plaguing the lgbt community.
I'm curious in what ways are you privileged? Do you leverage it to help those less fortunate, or do you reap the benefits without the concern of others?
:welllol:
Same as you.
Plus, I work with kids in the hood, so naturally I have privilege over them as an educator and adult. Even after coming from where they're growing up, "I made it" and they're still navigating through so many things.
Cute and both my daddies are rich
