MTV announced Tuesday (July 30) that Marc Jacobs will be the first recipient of the Fashion Trailblazer Award at this year's VMAs, in partnership with the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
Per a press release, MTV said the award was created to "honor a fashion designer who has made an indelible impact within the world of music-artist fashion."
Jacobs has designed iconic looks for musicians such as Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj and Cardi B, in addition to having Cher and Missy Elliott star in his ad campaigns.
For the 2019 VMAs, Jacobs is creating a "multimedia activation on the red carpet highlighting his creative vision."
Hosted by Sebastian Maniscalco, the VMAs will air on MTV Aug. 26.
