QuoteBrandy's first release in four years, "Right Here (Departed)" premiered via Brandy's official webpage on August 13, 2008,[10] and officially serviced to US radio on August 25, 2008.[16] It debuted at number 83 on the US Billboard Hot 100 issue dated September 27, 2008, being the fourth-highest new entry of the week.[17] Although the song fell four spots the following week, it slowly rose week by week and eventually peaked at number 34 on the Hot 100 chart, following the album's release on December 9. On Billboard's genre charts, the single reached the top spot on the Hot Dance Club Play chart (becoming Brandy's first single to do so) and number 22 on both the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and the Pop 100 charts.[18]
In Canada, "Right Here (Departed)" became Brandy's highest-charting single since 2002's "What About Us?". It debuted at number 95 on the Canadian Hot 100, dropped one week after and made a re-entry a month later on the chart, eventually rising to its peak position of number 39.[19] In Europe, the single reached number twenty-four on the Eurochart Hot 100 Singles chart and moreover made it to the top ten in France, where it became her best-selling effort in ten years, reaching a peak position of number seven based on digital downloads only.[19] It has since remained thirthy-seven weeks within the top 100 of the chart.[20] In addition, "Right Here" scored top forty entries in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany, and Sweden, where it outsold any single release taken from previous album Afrodisiac (2004).[19]
For her to return with this song and it slay like this after all the turmoil that happened in her life prior....
I was so happy for her. This was such a strong first single.
AND this was before Billboard changed the rules, which makes it even more of a book.
She really came back swinging :'( :'( :'(
I'll never forget that hot summer day when Z100 premiered it and I lost my mind. :'(
BITCH! Lemme just...

I still remember watching this all in my feelings. Like, after everything that happened and the dark place she was in I thought we may never see her touch a stage again. I really thought it might have been over, but this bitch pulled herself together, PLOPPED that wig on, and STOMPED right back on the scene.
I was fucking ELATED! That is one of the reasons I could NEVER shade 'Human'.
What kinda RISE from the fuckin ashes?!

I think this one of my favorite Brandy songs! She killed it and this song was perfect for her. A lot of non brandy fans love this song. I bout most cried when I saw the video! Lol. It was good to see a song like that be popular!
I wonder why Brandy don't like nothing from human or that era lol

If I had more time in the day, I would drag every phag who doesn't use Human.

peoole can say it's because it flopped if they want to, but I've always thought there was way more to it than that. Obviously she's not the biggest fan of Rodney personally, or wasn't at the time, and she'd just come out of the worst experience of her life, and never thought she'd make music again. She didn't speak up when she hated some of the music and now (recently) she knows that blame goes on her and no one else

"Oh, cuz it flopped"! Isn't enough. If that were the case, she wouldn't perform wildest dreams and the other Sean Garrett mess so damn much.
An iconic time in my road of fandom
I just joined the brandy boards. It was such an amazing time. We loved the song. It was everything to us. It wasn't until the albums numbers came out that the gorls got fickle. But that era and song was epic.
This was a great first single for her to re-surface back into the industry. Human is my least favorite album by her outside of a few songs.
'
Came in here hoping this was some new info.
Nice song.
My least favorite Brandy first single. But book
nnn wait I keep rewinding to the part where the bass drops as she comes on stage
really nice track - I like her live renditions more than I like the recorded version TBRFHWY

Exactly... ! She said the same thing to Kevin from the skorpian show. Saying she wasn't ready smh...
When she picked up the mic stand like she was ready beat someone's ass at 106 ????
I'm sorry but bran lips entirely too much for my liking
She's one of the best vocalist of all time ..I don't get it
I'm glad you're saying it Glock
Lord knows I get crucified every time I mention her lipping
I probably will as well
But it's just not a good look..
I could see if it was 1 or 2 but my God ...
This song is so inspirations
Me & Darin used to PM each other about it during Human era when we noticed
similar pre-recorded vocals. I wonder when ppl record those and who knows about them

The album was Pop, but that was a very good sound for her. The 'Human' tracks and the unreleased songs from that era are some of the best she's ever done. I really wish she wouldn't count Pop out like that. She's one of the few girls that can do both Pop & R&B effortlessly.

Not you just Popping up
I was impressed how she went top 40 all around the world.
Well PERCH in the Top 40 Ghan.
If her team hadn't dropped the ball on when they released it to Pop format, this could have become Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. :stressed:
