Taylor Swift has revealed she intends to re-record her old songs to offset Scooter Braun's purchase of her former label, Big Machine.
In an interview for an upcoming CBS Sunday Morning episode, host Tracy Smith asks Swift if she has a "plan" to create new masters of her classic songs to regain control of the music on her early albums. "Yeah, absolutely," Swift replies.
Swift's recordings became a point of contention earlier this summer, when star manager Braun's Ithaca Holdings acquired Scott Borchetta's Big Machine Label Group in a deal reportedly worth $300 million. In a now-famous Tumblr post, Swift called the deal -- which gives Braun control over her first six albums -- her "worst-case scenario," accusing Braun of bullying her in the past through clients like Kanye West and Justin Bieber.
In the time since, many high-profile artists have rushed to each side's defense, with Borchetta penning his own blog post reply, "So, It's Time For Some Truth."
In the CBS interview, Swift also explains how she found out about the deal "when it was online," with no prior knowledge -- details Big Machine officials have repeatedly disputed.
The full interview will be broadcast on Aug. 25 at 9 a.m. EST on CBS. Meanwhile, Swift's seventh studio album, Lover -- her first since her Big Machine contract ended last November -- will be released on Friday (Aug. 23). She is now signed to a worldwide record deal with Universal Music Group, with UMG's Republic Records acting as her U.S. partner.

I fcks with it. She SHOULD have control of her mess
I've always wondered how this works on the business end
QuoteThe possibility arose in the public imagination after Kelly Clarkson tweeted out the idea July 13. "Just a thought," Clarkson wrote, "U should go in & re-record all the songs that U don't own the masters on exactly how U did them but put brand new art & some kind of incentive so fans will no longer buy the old versions. I'd buy all of the new versions just to prove a point."
and this is definitely just a dick move by that man
An artist as big as Taylor with all that money, it sounds like she would've paid him whatever to get them
like ... give the girl her stuff :dead:
Hopefully she doesn't do like JoJo and completely ruin her mess
Her music sucks so I don't see how it would make a difference

What does that have to do with her music being shitty
I actually enjoyed Jo's new versions
My post was in response to the jojo post
But I highly doubt anyone would care for new versions of Taylor's mess. Maybe for a week or two and then fade to black.
