She recently sat down for an interview with NPR's Sidney Madden following her performance at the first-ever Tiny Desk Fest. "I felt like my mixtapes were me flirting with my fans," the breakout star said. "I never wanted to do an album 'cause I was like, 'Oh, that feel like marriage. That's a commitment.' But now, I'm ready to settle down with an album."
The leader of "Hot Girl Summer" is known to inhabit an ensemble of alter egos, including Hot Girl Meg and Thee Stallion. She named her 2018 EP Tina Snow after one of her personas. Now, it looks like a new addition will join the bunch. "My next project, I will be introducing a new lady," she said. "Her name is Suga."
According to Megan, Suga is "besties with Tina Snow." The latter alter-ego was inspired by Pimp C's Tony Snow persona. "Pimp C is my favorite rapper," she told The Source last year. "He just makes me feel so cool and so laid back. I get into my act when I listen to Pimp C so I turn myself into Tina Snow, his opposite. When people listen to me, I want them to feel cool as hell. I want them to get in their act when they're listening to Tina Snow."
Last month, the late rapper's widow, Chinara Butler, revealed that she's reserving some of his unreleased verses for Megan. "I'm hold on to a couple of Unreleased verses of #PimpC just for you!!!!" she wrote in an Instagram post.
The Fever rapper recently signed a management deal with Roc Nation, but she'll continue to release music through 1501 Certified Ent/300 Entertainment.
