But I just don't think it's that easy for us, they'll automatically think we're hitting on them

Or maybe I'm just overthinking it

It's not that deep IMO. Compliment whoever you like or don't do it at all if it gives you anxiety. You could say nothing and some would think you're hitting on them tbh.

If I say "hi"  to one.. They think I'm hitting on them
