I'm sick of this
Niggers need to fucking start going independent. It's time for a new era of micro labels with the PUBLIC deciding what they like via social media.
Because as insta celebs have shown, even if it's saturated. Ppl will flock to what is most appealing to them.
And that way the artists are pocketing more funds to live/survive/create more art. 100 % of 14k sold is a lot more after you pay your bills then paying a label that didn't even promote your shit except on Instagram anyways :kii:
the music industry as a whole is in shambles
excited to see where rih will land in all the confusion
Damn
Rihanna needs to be the first major artist to cut ALL the chains. They haven't done SHIT for sis that she couldn't do herself
And with her catalog she'll always be a marketable staple in music and get endorsements.
It's just not working for us (blacks) anymore.
Not to sound corny but we all need to unite. R&B is becoming an afterthought.

I think a huge part of the issue is the fan wars and labeling veterans "flops".
I mean Katy fanbase and Gaga fanbase can be at each others throats because they're enough of them to go around. However, black artist really dont need that division. They're simply not enough of us.
Prime example.... "It all belongs to me"! Not my favorite song but Bran & Mon fanbase couldnt come together for shit. Debating in the comments, dragging one for the other. The general public calling them flops just because they were veterans. The song didnt have a chance of reaching full potential because of the negative cloud (Whitney included).
it just wasn't a good enough song for the general public to care. it wasn't good enough to create much more buzz beyond the first week it came out. I love their vocals but thats not all people care about obviously
a few fans on the message boards and youtube? eh. would've been nice to see folks get along, but the numbers wouldn't have changed much. Hell, even people like Usher are slightly struggling these days
I dont think it wouldve Smashed Hot 100. But it could have done much better IF Brandy and Monica fans BOTH supported.
N its more than just here and youtube. Niggas was fusing on every blog that posted it. Blogs are powerful and general people see the comments. If you dont think that subconsciously affects how people perecieve things then yeah.

Not 10 mutha fucking K!!! I knew Jeremih would unfortunately flop regardless, but not that low.
sooner or later, artists are just gonna start throwin out songs solely for radios and not even release albums. They're proving to serve little to no purpose
This is sad.
I know people are flopping across the board, but I wish Black folks would come out and support our artists more. Push them to #1 and platinum status, especially while the Pop girls are struggling.
That way labels would have no choice but to pump coins back into Black artists outside of Rih & Bey.

Reminds of that K. Michelle thread from yesterday with her playing a snippet of her new single. It's the same shit these girls been singing about for years. Money, material shit, and no good niggas. They don't vary from the script at all.
I've been living for the alternative R&B era that's come up recently. I love it and most of it comes from independent artists without major backing.

This is sad.
I know people are flopping across the board, but I wish Black folks would come out and support our artists more. Push them to #1 and platinum status, especially while the Pop girls are struggling.
That way labels would have no choice but to pump coins back into Black artists outside of Rih & Bey.
what do u think it would take for that to happen ..
honestly why dont support MOST rnb is cause most of it is boring TBH IMO .. its not as fun as the other music.. thats why i dont support .. and why i feel some ppl dont .. cause if it was really good i would buy
What kind of music do you purchase?
the last thing i purchased was adeles hello single .. i really dont purchase much outside of my FAVES. tbh bran, Bey, Ci, but i havent bought any true rnb albums since i dunno when .. i torrent everything else .. if ts not appealing. and if its not appealing to me i know its not to others. Its not just about supporting but making good music if the music isnt good im not buying.

eddie come on im being serious.. yall make it so hard to have a real convo sometimes cause yall wanna joke about everything
I'm not joking. Your post actually kinda brings up a good point.
What's so different about the "boring R&B music" and what Adele is doing? Honestly.
I'm not trying to come down on you at all. I'm just curious.
ok honestly i think its cause the media tells us that adele is dropping a new single and everyone is excited and talkin about it . and it kind of makes me excited as well. but her album to ME was boring .. besides 2 or 3 songs .. i didnt buy the album btw her album is no diff than jaz or tyrese imo
i just wish that rnb music was more progressive.. it needs a new sounds.
YAHTZEE! :supluv: :supluv: :supluv:
But yeah. I agree about R&B needing to be more progressive. It needs to be refreshed. That's why I live for this Alternative R&B movement so much.
maybe thats what bran is doing with her "secret producer"

I honestly hope so. The new producer thing did kind of get me excited, but knowing her track record he could end up getting the chop as well. We'll see.
