Title: Kobe's edgy comments about Trayvon Martin resurface
Post by: herbie on February 08, 2020, 11:32:49 AM
Apparently he was going against the grain after Trayvon was shot down - saying that he was not required to react a certain way to the news just because he's Black. He felt as if no one should jump to Trayvon's "defense" just because he was Black.

Quote"I won't react to something just because I'm supposed to, because I'm an African-American. That argument doesn't make any sense to me. So we want to advance as a society and a culture, but, say, if something happens to an African-American, we immediately come to his defense? Yet you want to talk about how far we've progressed as a society? Well, then don't jump to somebody's defense just because they're African-American."

The gorls are digging in a bit into his mess because of people going after Gayle.

QuoteWhen I ran into Bryant before the Los Angeles Lakers (https://www.espn.com/nba/team/_/name/lal/los-angeles-lakers)' game against the Phoenix Suns (https://www.espn.com/nba/team/_/name/phx/phoenix-suns) Sunday night, he said that the quote in question does not reflect his thoughts on the Martin case specifically, but in a general sense.

it is a bit much but...if he felt that no one deserves "defense" simply cuz they were/are Black...I'm done tugging at Gayle's lopsided wig about this mess on him.

sffsffsfsff

cuz I'm def not a basketball fan and couldn't  list one of his stats if someone quizzed me  :omf:

fhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh  it IS a bit...... ironic

No he was basically saying to not jump to conclusions because he is black. Wasn't enough information to go by at the time he said this.

He was entitled to feel that way....but it's just a bit of a kii because so many Black people, many of whom couldn't tell you jack squat about his career highlights and stats, are coming to his defense after his death solely because he's a Black man who was famous.

I damn sure was delicately twirling my fingers thru Gayle's wig a bit after that interview she did. But why tho? What he said does have some reason and logic to it. Maybe I should apply it to him as well and just mind my business on this rape question mess. Let Gayle ask her questions as she sees fit, and such.

I agree ppl shouldn't be outraged about Gayle just because Kobe is Black
it should be because he was never proven guilty, the accuser isn't even bringing it up herself
so he's technically an innocent Black man and didn't need that brought up

I felt like it was wrong to bring it up the way it was brought up and the way she immediately tried to disregard Lisa's experience. It wouldn't have made a difference, to me at least, if everyone had been white or any other race: it was in poor taste to be done so close to the death of someone who seemed to be a good person..

Jemele Hill checked him on live TV and he actually called her 15 minutes later and understood where she was coming from

He acknowledged his comments were ignorant and actually apologized to the family a few times

Makes sense.

I'm sure there were plenty of people who simply felt for Trayvon because he was a young boy who lost his life - aside from his race and all. But we know how many in the Black community felt about it and why. And we know why many of us are dragging the hell out of Gayle right now. A lot of it has to do with race, flat out. He's a Black "icon" and we're not having it.
I can see that. So interesting because I never felt bad for Trayvon or his family because he was black, I just felt bad because he seemed like a good boy and just didn't deserve that.

Zimmerman went WAY out of his way to pursue Trayvon for no reason, killed him, walked, and taunts us about it to this day. All of that is infuriating enough. I'm getting pissed all over again.

So do you agree his comments were ignorant, Bent?

Seemed like you found them to be perfectly reasonable ...Saying that his "critical thinking" was at work, and that he was calling others to think critically as well.

Is that what you'd consider critical thinking? Or was it...... "ignorant"? ...and naive
honestly I didn't research his entire response to Trayvon's entire saga, I went off the information provided here. the picture with him wearing a Trayvon shirt speaks volumes (I've never seen FRAYle's comments on Trayvon btw)

But what he said was clearly not ignorant, in context.  :dead:
It definitely had merit because he was asked about a situation that he knew nothing about at the time. He was a fairly young celebrity, and obviously being pushed for a sensational answer.

And I'm kinda glad we skipped to desert because this girl's video, whoever she is, is VERY ignorant and intentionally biased. And honestly, it's quite an unnecessary view to take given that STAYle didn't ask those questions after Kobe "allegedly" raped someone. She asked it decades after she has all of the facts and Kobe was cleared of wrong doing  :plzstop:

STAYle won't be getting a reprieve. The gorls saw through her bullshit and started handing out death threats accordingly. It's quite simple to me.
