carnival is basically on pause until september
no cruises until August 31st.
i think considering the decline in covid related hospitalizations, the curve beginning to flatten, etc.
it's reasonable to PLAN to resume operations in early September.
obviously if another wave of the Rona mess hits they'll have to rethink that
but if the trend keeps going the way it is now, it's reasonable IMO
and the government has only committed/promised to pay airline workers through the summer.
letters from airline CEOs are already being emailed to their employees informing them of "tough decisions" that lie ahead once the government cuts the support after summertime.

simply put: a shitload of people may be losing their jobs in that industry. i actually know a flight attendant and i'm scared af for him.
they're anticipating that people's FEAR, not the actual threat of the virus itself, but people's literal fear of flying in months to come is what's gonna cripple airlines.

No lol. I really want to go to Antarctica.
Yeah, I had to cancel my cruise on Royal next month for my niece's Sweet Sixteen and I had a cruise on Virgin Voyages in Nov. I won't be going on a cruise for a minute. Also had to cancel my two trips to Disney World this year also and my snorkeling trip to the Keys in July.

Not at all. I live in Miami, so cruising is cheap (I usually book over a year in advance). Disney is 2 1/2 hours away and Key Largo is like 1 1/2 hours away.
All it takes is planning.
No one learned from the people who were stuck on a cruise ship with Rona for like two weeks? Slowly more and more people got Rona but they didn't want the passengers to leave the ship because they were scared Rona would spread..so they were isolated from the world. Had to hang out on their balcony or stuck in their rooms probably all sharing the same air conditioning.
They are also bad for the environment. Pollution and noise is a bad for nature and the health of animals.

https://www.transportenvironment.org/press/luxury-cruise-giant-emits-10-times-more-air-pollution-sox-all-europe's-cars-–-study
Carnival Corporation, the world's largest luxury cruise operator, emitted nearly 10 times more sulphur oxide (SOX) around European coasts than did all 260 million European cars in 2017, a new analysis by sustainable transport group Transport & Environment reveals.
Faig Abbasov, shipping policy manager at T&E, said: "Luxury cruise ships are floating cities powered by some of the dirtiest fuel possible. Cities are rightly banning dirty diesel cars but they're giving a free pass to cruise companies that spew out toxic fumes that do immeasurable harm both to those on board and on nearby shores. This is unacceptable."
Rona on cruise ships is pure karma

Silence is golden for whales as lockdown reduces ocean noise
"We have a generation of humpbacks that have never known a quiet ocean," said Fournet, whose work has shown that the whales alter their calling behaviour in response to a noisy ocean.
Late April usually marks the beginning of the cruise ship season in south-east Alaska, with the boats docking at Vancouver before heading north. This year the health crisis has halted them.
"What we know about whales in south-east Alaska is that when it gets noisy they call less, and when boats go by they call less," said Fournet."I expect what we might see is an opportunity for whales to have more conversation and to have more complex conversation."
