Title: So I'm almost ready to jump on the property ladder...
Post by: Sharon. on June 01, 2020, 06:10:24 PM
I've been stashing my coin for the past year, or so and due to this pandemic...I've been able to save thousands.  :plzstop: :plzstop: :plzstop:

Anyway, I've started to look for some homes to BUY.

This one is three bedrooms and a STEAL at only £140,000. I could really fix it up, I can already imagine the cream and black front I'd give it. There's also a decent sized garden in the back. I'm going to be smart and buy a property that I can renovate so that it accrues in value.

I used to dream of living in an apartment when I was a teenager, but it just doesn't seem...smart.  You can't buy an apartment freehold, so after X amount of years, ownership reverts back to the person who actually owns the land the building is on.  :uhh: :uhh: :uhh:

Just not a smart investment for me, personally.

But who here owns a house, what advice can you give?

This is cute.
once u do the renovations it's gonna be a catch mess
will you live in it?
have u checked out the neighborhood?
a lot of folks I know are losing value in their property because of everything that's happening this year from Covid to the protesting

so some are selling. This is the best time to buy some mess

Yeah, for a couple of years...then I plan on moving!
To be honest, I'm still in the search phase. I've been told that house prices are gonna DROP once we're in the recession and to pounce then.
So I'll probably wait for it.
The area is cute, quite suburban, but close to central Manc.
That's probably smart to do so
It looks big as hell tho bby jdjdjjd
U don't have a family yet do u?  :uhh:

Why not rent an apartment mess or rent a loft?

Or buy one? Well u said u was against that but it looks big

I figured I get something for myself first with 3% down as a first time homebuyer, then take a dive into purchasing an investment property.

Plus you have to pay all those shared fees with your neighbors.

It all depends where. I was thinking maybe a multi family home. I know I can't buy no investment property in NYC right now. But then again who knows what the outcome of covid is going to be. I expect a lot of properties to end up foreclosing. Especially ppl with 2nd homes and vacation homes. They'll be trying to save their primary before anything else.

What do u mean someone can snatch ur mess?  :uhh:

It's basically an extended lease.

QuoteFor the uninitiated, leasehold ownership of a property basically means a long tenancy and the right to own, occupy and use it for a long period.

The lease is the contract between the flat owner and landlord or freeholder who owns the land and building. Technically, if you buy a leasehold flat, you become a leaseholder rather than an "owner".

It sounded too much for me.

https://www.lovemoney.com/news/15939/five-reasons-never-buy-leasehold

Huh?  :uhh:
Does not every person that owns a space in the building share ownership with all owners of the lofts? Or apts?

So someone owns the Actual building but U don't own ur actual apartment

That sounds crazy ..

I don't get it. How u buying some shit and then someone can just take it? Will they pay u everything u invested in ur shit? :uhh:

HOA fees (those fees you "share with the neighbors") are almost inescapable if you're buying a NEWER house in America in 2020.

A little research on the housing market in America will easily reveal that.

They are set by DEVELOPERS who build these newer communities (both house communities and condos). And the Homeowner's Association protects the community's value.
And they're useful. Your next door neighbor cannot decide to paint their entire house PINK without authorization
And you can REPORT  them to an HOA if they decide to not trim their lawn anymore.

Sounds like things are different in the UK...but this how things work in the states with HOAs.
I know all about HOA
I think it's ridiculous u have to get approval for mess

Like if I want my shit to be pink
Why tf not  :uhh:

The land owner is basically the landlord and you might buy a leasehold for 50 years, or 10 years, or 5 years etc. and at the end of the leasehold ownership reverts back to the land owner and you don't get a fucking DIME back.

I really just don't understand the point. Might as well rent.

I bought an apartment in Dubai late last year. Prices are down here 45‰ so I thought it was a good time to buy. It's got a sea view, amazing facilities like pool and gym etc. Near malls and supermarkets.

Construction on the building will be completed in June next year.

I plan to sell it when the prices bounce back after a few years and buy something in the UK possibly.

I own an apartment in French Guiana that I'm renting. I bought it in March 2020. I was super happy and my mom was like WAIT!

My ultimate goal is to buy something in Paris but the prices are so highhhh...

This looks lovely bby!

My fiancé and I are prepping to buy as well. We have moved back East from Hawaii with the plan to only be here for a few years .

But now we're trying to decide where we want to buy first.
It's So much to consider  :plzstop:

We're kinda deciding between :

-Wanting to Hawaii within the next year or so and buy there
-Moving right out side of Atlanta and really getting a cute house for our coin
- Or steady work with the Gov in the DMV area

We're really torn :stressed:

But ack ! Bby that's a lovely yard out front too
The house looks like it has lots of potential !

Sorry for bumping this but i had the tab open on my phone.

Anyway, i always forget how important it is to know who tf lives around you. But it's ESPECIALLY important now with all of these racist people showing their true colors. Better to be safe and at least 80% sure about what you can expect
