meaning....
if you have a fav who you see acting crazy and saying off the wall shit
but u love their music
are u able to compartmentalize a bit and say "ok, love their tunes but lemme unfollow them on social media..and just enjoy their tunes"
or do you feel they must be held accountable for everything as a whole?
.....and ur support for them as an artist is dependent on how they present as a person?
go. :ATLcameo:
Sometimes, It just depends. Sometimes I just dont want to. I don't like Chris Brown and I'm not gonna try. I don't wanna hear his music and I'm not gonna attempt to listen. Tamar I find terrible but I don't mind listening to her music.
Da baby. He irks me but I'm a fan of his music.
Depends on how evil they are
I've kinda stopped listening to R. Kelly subconsciously I think.

#MeToo queen bitch :gorlonfire:
It also helps when the music is actually still good
The way a heifer easily gets cancelled because well, the shit just AINT hitting anymore
Yes The enjoyment of ones artistry should be separated from the artist and support of the artist
I do not like xtincta but i enjoy alot of her music and I supported some in the past
Tyrese i dont like him his music and i wont support
Brandy I like her work and talent more than i like her at this point and i will support her artistry as much as possible
Monica I do not like the artist most times do not like the music but will suppoort and purchase when i think its neccesary ( i bought new life)
Future - dont like the artist wont support but will enjoy some of his work
I couldn't listen to anything from Aaliyah's first album for a while.

Still can't tbh... unless I'm in a mood to listen to a specific song
all my favs are great people

i think im not very connected to an artist , its easier for me to ignore their nonsense.
like nicki. sfsffsss
but im kinda glad toni kept her mouth for the most part on that show of hers....and just showed up to keep the lights on
one thing im super afraid of is discovering something about an artist i am VERY connected to that disappoints me
i would be sincerely heartbroken if i ever saw toni somewhere saying something "ewww i dont liek fags" or something
it would be a LOT harder for me to separate that from her artistry cuz im so invested in her overall
if that makes sense
Lmao My mom was saying when pulse came out she said after Yesterday she said the team dropped the ball had her old bald head azz on stripping poles (hands tied) and flippin with faggots (make my heart)
it was problematic to say but i still find that funny :kii: :kii: :kii:
toni loves the gays but she comes from an era where u just dont say much her and brandy both
yea
i really don't give a fuck tbh. If I liked R. Kelly's mess I would still listen

it does make alot of sense
Idk but they are still married.
have you seen nikkis court house marriage certificate yet?
Honestly K. Michelle. She's been annoying me for quite some time now with her antics but l still love her music

Cause she's annoying :dead:
Y'all be killing me. So delusional
For me, if I don't agree with your actions, I don't support.

is this the twilight zone
It depends, but mostly no. If they're racist, homophobic or a pedophile definitely not.
For example, it's impossible to separate R Kelly from his music. His sex songs are about little girls...
But a few ignorant tweets will pass

I feel like I'm sinning going through this R. Kelly playlist. :uhh:
Step in the name of Love is kinda hitting different. :uhh:
All I can think of is him stepping in pools of piss and lil gorls strewn across the ground covered in his piss and their own feces. :uhh:

It depends.
Usually it would have to be something pretty heinous and extremely problematic for me to not be able to separate the two.
Messing on social media and getting on the shaderoom ain't enough for me to completely let go of an Artist (obviously).
I hate Keri Hilson and most of her music but I will admit she has some good songs
Same with Rihanna. It's not a hatred though. Just don't care for ha.
fck no
Fuck Monica

Well sometimes we are delusional and we think because somone has immense talent that all other aspects are the same and it simply isnt so and social media has brought down celebrity a couple notches now its what u got for us and keep it pushin
Brandy isnt my personal friend or family member shes an artist i admire for her artistry
So that is what i choose to focus on meeting her at chicago and the dc stunt helped with this i simply moved away from the idolatry side of it
And i will continue to promote her talent and work and support it but thats putside of her as a person even tho shes a nice person as well
Sometimes it takes a while for me to recover...I stopped listening to M.I.A. for two months after her vaccine tweets. I also lost a bit of respect for Keri after the 5G paranoia.
I muted R Kelly and most of the songs he wrote. I still listen to back & forth but left the rest of the age album behind. I also stopped listening to MJ after the documentary.
And other people like Monica they can be annoying but that doesn't really bother me. I still enjoy the music.

I get it.. maybe it also has to do with us growing up a bit. I used to be a stan who put her on a big pedestal..but now I just support her work and understand she is just a person. I'm not putting that level of attention and energy in it anymore. I love her music but I also get she can't be perfect all the time.
And I also want to be honest with myself and others, I can't just make myself like something, a single for example, because I have to 100% stan for a person. (BM grew on me a bit tho after the seeing the vid.)

oh, ok. I get it now. I thought you were saying you didn't like her as a person. Yeah the idolatry of celebrities is not good. Celebrities set up images to look a certain way to the public. I mean, your fave could be totally different from that image they put out. So moving away from that is a good thing.
Could never really do R.Kelly before the mess, but now I have a good reason not to :tistheseas:
i have learnt to do so now. but being a GHan stan during the snapchat/early insta days was HELL
After I became a Li, I couldn't listen to Kellz anymore.
Back in 2009 when the incident with Piss and Rih, I was a HARDCORE Rih and I hated him for a while. Didn't listen to his music at ALL.
Relaxed on that stance after a few years tho.
:unbothered:
