And this is like the go to album when artists be sampling Brandy. Drake, Chance The Rapper, I mean. And then she came out w/ Sittin Up In My Room. All these fucking hits. Man, I wish I was old enough at the time to really live thru that era w/ her killing it. If she never grew up in such a competitive time, she would be even more awarded up.

The interpolations. The vocal choices. The way she switched up the melodies. Genius!
Always On My Mind just encapsulates what was in store for us fans..the bgvs, the low-lows as it fades out. Just an awesome showcase of all that she was capable of at the time. And the Whitney-isms>>>>

Brandy was everywhere during this era. She worked her ass off - I mean, did sis get any days off? 16 million records worldwide. Her huge breakout era internationally!!
QuotePromotion for Never Say Never began with Brandy's appearance on music magazine Vibe's April cover, followed by a massive print campaign, including cover shoots for Teen People and Ebony as well as coverage in fanzines. The co-marketing venture between Vibe and Atlantic Records resulted in a number of joint projects, such as a Vibe/Brandy website, a college marketing tour, and several retail and radio promotions. With television channel MTV, Brandy hosted the network's spring break shows in Jamaica on March 13–15. In June, Brandy performed "Top of the World" alongside Mase at the 7th annual MTV Movie Awards. On June 13, MTV aired a special that focused on Brandy presenting a video countdown that consisted of her favorite music videos. The following day, MTV produced a 30-minute Ultra Sound segment special that focused on her .
This is the album that made me stan.
I remember being in the 4th grade listening to 'The Boy Is Mine' on the radio and recording it on my cassette tape and rewinding it over and over again to write down the lyrics :kii: When Have U Ever came out, Brandy was everywhere, even in Jamaica. They looooved her there and it was a big deal when she came to visit in Jamaica.
Even though I do remember her getting some backlash by Jamaicans when she said she cant find any good looking guys in Jamaica when she came down for Spring Break :kii: She pissed ppl off.
This is when she was the it girl

An Urban-Pop Masterpiece and a perfect era. Literally the only thing I would have done differently is shoot a video for AID and ending the era with "Happy".
Almost Doesn't Count is still my fav song of all time.
Rest of my top 5 would be
- U Don't Know Me
- Put That on Everything
- Tomorrow
- Learn the Hard Way
I love Angel in Disguise but I hate how the song title has the opposite meaning of the lyrics.

This was my stan era. I remember having a connection to my sis. I would go in stores go to the magazine section because I could FEEL there would be a new poster of my sis. I would flip them pages of BlackBeat, Right On, and Word Up...posters in each one.
:stressed:
Dudes would even bring me mess to school, "I took this out my sister's magazine". Bby, I already had the poster, but I would take it just because of who it came from.

Her rendition of Everything I Do is soooo underrated. She breathed new life into that song. One of her classics and she dont even know it. They played that song a lot, especially in overseas markets.
I watch the boy is mine video religiously it's amazing how the song, fashion and video style hold up today. Epic.

Right!!! The artists today have waaaay less competition and is kinda the reason why some of them can rack up so many grammys and major awards at a time. If Brandy actually had the time to fully promote and tour NSN, whew! What an era it woulda truly been. But at the same time, her being on all these shows and side gigs was the best promo she could have. Fuck the #1 singles. Sis got coined up doing work that would get her paid for the rest of her life.
Such an iconic era. Whew
U should've just done them all in one thread and just chang the title each day

Why is this my first time seeing this?
Loved it.
Never say never was her big star era. It was great but still flawed, she could have chosen at least two different singles. I have so many memories from this era recording all her tv appearances on vhs( I still have two totes full of tapes that just collect dust because I don't have a vcr anymore). I remember going to the local Walgreens to steal teen magazines just to a cut out a new picture for my locker. Wherever I went I mentioned her to people she was my best friend, anytime I run into a old classmate one of the first questions they ask me isn't how mom's doing? But do you still love brandy 😘. I must've gotten a dozen cds total as gifts from birthday/Xmas for three straight years. I remember getting into fights if anyone said something slick about her. Freaking out and crying at her moesha meets brandy episode the
only person at that time I seen play two different were Adam/Stuart and Janet/Natalie from all my children. She Gained so many cool points from doing to me.
fave performance has to be her entire set during divas live 99. Iconic moment for me.
