Where are our fucking sales going?
Should we stop streaming and purchase more, are we at a point of no return for R&B? R&B doesn't sale unless your white, sound just like a million other girls, talking about sex, or well shit that's it.
Did the industry not set our girls or genre up for success?
Give me your thoughts Fam. I just want to know how do we remedy this? Our girls have at least 2 good albums in them. Do we buy or do we stream?
Music will change, it always does
technology will also change
Im sure when we went from tapes to cds the girls were like :diddraispoot:
Remember just 10 years ago we were listening to Britney Katy Gaga Flo Rida and Calvin Harris 24/7
but still buying cds or digital singles
its just another era
Jhene Aiko and Summer Walker have two of the best selling albums of the year
Ella Mai, HER, SZA etc are a few more that have released platinum albums in the past couple of the years. It's doing way better than it was at the beginning/middle of the 2010's
and like Ton said, the industry changes and the artists have to acclimate

Musical historian!Shut the hell up, damn.
All I'm doing is streaming. I only buy the music that's not available for streaming, which is just mostly older soundtracks from old movies.
I've often wondered how much money artists make from streaming, but the only pockets that I'm worried about are my own. I can't justify spending $9.99 for an album when I can spend that same amount for virtually unlimited music for a month.
I went to buy Brandys album from target... and had that same thought.. I have Apple Music. I of courses purchased but I think our girls are somehow left behind... yes I'm talking about Monica and Brandy!! The online presence just doesn't add up! All the likes and comments... I just don't get it!!! Anywho, I won't cry about something I can't change but I do feel that streaming has killed our genre.
Am I the only one who thinks all these R&B girls sound the same.... Kehlani, Jhené, summer, I hear nothing intriguing about their voices other than their words and the beat.
I guess the progression of portable music makes sense! I just want my girls to win!

There are shifts and trends in music every 5 to 10 years. It's that simple.
Either get with the times or get left behind.
Sales are so unpredictable and literally have nothing to do with an artist's talent or reputation these days. You have to make people fall in love with you enough to buy all your music all the time.. and that can be tricky ..particularly if you've been in the game a while ...because people lose interest very quickly.

yeah, I think streaming has hurt them. I still buy albums. I love the CD quality, and I love driving around listening to music. The KNOCK in your car is better, lol. It just is.
Brandy is independent so I think it's good to actually buy her albums.
