Sara Forbes Bonetta (1843 – 15 August 1880) was a West African Egbado omoba of Yoruba royalty who was orphaned in intertribal warfare, sold into slavery, and in a remarkable twist of events, was liberated from enslavement and became a goddaughter to Queen Victoria. She was married to Captain James Pinson Labulo Davies, a wealthy Victorian Lagos philanthropist.

:loose2when:
Originally named "Aina", Sara was born in 1843 at Oke-Odan (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yewa_South), an Egbado (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egbado)village. In 1848, Oke-Odan was raided by a Dahomeyan (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dahomey) army; Sara's parents died during the attack and she ended up in the court of King Ghezo. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghezo)Captain Frederick E. Forbes of the Royal Navy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Navy), who convinced King Ghezo of Dahomey (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dahomey) to give her to Queen Victoria (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_Victoria); "She would be a present from the King of the Blacks to the Queen of the Whites," Forbes wrote later.

Queen Victoria was so impressed by the girl's natural regal manner and her gift for academic studies, Literature, Art and Music that she gave her an allowance for her welfare and Sarah became a regular visitor to Windsor Castle. Sarah's genius became admired throughout the royal court and she continued to outshine her tutors with her advanced abilities in all studies.

MILLIE-CHRISTINE MCKOY
LONDON, 1871 Millie-Christine McKoy (1851-1912) were American conjoined twins born into slavery and exhibited as a human curiosity in circus side-shows throughout the United States and England in the latter half of the 19th century. They became accomplished singers and pianists – billed as 'The Two-Headed Nightingale', their forenames were frequently hyphenated, as if it were just the one name. Fluent in five languages ('she' could even sing in two different languages at once), they toured America and Europe many times, and were invited to appear before numerous crowned heads. They performed for Queen Victoria in London on 24 June 1871.
Crazy story
There was also a Black queen who the royal family today are directly related to. Queen Charlotte.

Oh wow t4p!
lol this Mimi mention is so random:
In an era of mixed-race celebrities such as Tiger Woods and Mariah Carey, and at a time when in the US, the UK and any other racially diverse countries mixed-raced relationships are common, this rule seems absurd. But without such a rule, how do we determine Charlotte's ethnicity? If she is black, aren't we all?
