Us Jamaicans r actually loving this. Jamaicans arent as sensitive as North Americans are. Sis just went from 'Hello' to 'Wha Gwaan'. Not seeing the issue.

Wouldnt mind if she dips a bit into a more reggae sound on her next album ala Amy Winehouse.

How is it appropriation when she isn't profiting off of it or taking it as her own? She's wearing the flag.

She doesn't need to profit or claim it as her own, just her wearing it is a problem

When we wear stuff like this we are called ghetto and many things,

We have to face a lot of disrespect and bull, but when white people do it, People say it's cool and edgy.
That's part of why it's appropriation

There's so many levels to it and it's not simple, Just like if you and your family didn't have the Nigga experience you should have compassion and understanding for those who did and respectfully not use that word
like respecting survivors of the holocaust.

I'm African born in American and I love "Mexican" Food and clothes from Latin culture but you won't ever catch me dressed up in clothes from their culture celebrating, I can still appreciate them and lift them up while representing my own culture and respecting theirs.

I wasn't gonna explain this because sometimes people just don't care to understand or they have fun trolling
Sometimes they don't want too start taking accountability for their behavior and the way they think.

I mean, for it to be genuine cultural appropriation,  she'd have to  remove it from its original context of the Notting Hill Carnival  and repurpose it for her own benefit.

She just looks a fool.

Im Jamaican, born and raised, and I love it. And all the Jamaicans are diggin it, creating a bunch of memes and shit over it. Jamaicans actually love when other cultures embrace it.

Maybe its cause the JA culture isnt at a ment / cancel stage as yet. I mean, how Adele is dressed here isnt different from what white artists like Fergie, Christina and Gwen Stefani was doing during their prime 15 yrs ago.

I think Africans view black Americans as lazy and very entitled. Think of the Wendy and Ashley conflict on RHOP.

Well, then they're being hypocritical. Why would you say black Americans have no culture in one breath, but then identity as them, a group you claim have no culture for the benefits? They should just check "other" if that's how they really feel. It's lineage theft, full stop. And there is no "both sides" to this at all. Black Americans have been the most accepting and welcome group of blacks, and history agrees. It is what it is. 🤷🏾‍♂️

It is one sided, because it seems to me that some foreign blacks are really jealous of the international appeal of black American culture. Black Americans simply don't have any tribal distinctions or terms to differentiate people who aren't in their immediate "tribe". There is NO Black America equivalent to words like "akata", "oyinbo", "obruni/obroni" etc...A lot of this seems to be folks on flag twitter who can't get over the fact that they were probably called african booty scratcher in elementary school. Let's call a thing a thing.

Its kinda always been a common perception that Africans think they're better than Americans, but it never seemed that deep. It wasn't until I started seeing all the ADOS/FBA stuff on twitter that I realized how serious people are about it. It's really silly in the grand scheme.

After my experience in Europe last summer.... I could understand why other cultures don't use Americans.. just from something I did myself. :dead:

I think Americans can be very "unconsciously" entitled. We don't genuinely try to learn/adjust to a new culture.. we almost still expect our cultural comforts to be accommodated. And it's completely unintentional though. SDDDSSSS We unconsciously assume everything operates from our American perspective and at the same time, we ALSO unconsciously assume that others will adjust for us. I heard that's mainly why the French don't see it for it us.. and I get it now. :dead: However, I didn't have ANY bad experiences with the French. They were extremely kind and helpful. My little incident actually happened in London (thank GOD), but she was very sweet when she informed me how they DO things.
