Title: So a month later has anything changed regarding B7?
Post by: Vonc2002 on September 02, 2020, 05:04:06 PM
Did u originally dislike it and now uve warmed to it?  More specifically are there any tracks u use now that u initially didn't

I couldn't quite get into Lucid Dreams and I am More was ruined because of the rap so I hardly listened to those 2 songs and now they are my MOST listened to songs (atm)
Also, I've warmed up to high heels too  :overit:

For me it was lucid Dreams too I preferred the beat switch I wanted the whole song to have that one beat. NOW it's one of the most played tracks. I actually like the rap on IAM MORE it's the rap on HIGH HEELS that I can still do without.

I was so against I AM MORE now I love it.

SAML was weir on the first few listens now I catch myself humming it often.

I still skip HH and the AML interludes

I forget that LOVE AGAIN and BYE BIPOLAR is on here because when HH come on I stop it and go back to the beginning of the album. Lmao

but Ive been pushing myself to remember to skip to Bye Bipolar

I still don't love Bi polar tho.  I understand it's like her swan song or whatever but it just does NOTHING for me.  I do love that that's why i lost ur ring and u can keep ur last name line tho.  LOVE it

My feelings are pretty much the same outside of Borderline. It's grown on me a lot. Initially it was just ok and I would even skip it.

I still can't get into SAML. It's cool until I start trying to listen to her.

Too choppy.

I didn't like Say Something at first now it slaps. I hated the first verse of No Tomorrow..the way she sang it now I totally get it.

The best thing about SAML is the beginning and the beat ..I hate all the rasp and it sounds like she's whispering.

Initially, I would kinda stop playing the album straight through after High Heels

bot that's I've given Baby Mama and Love Again a break ; this album can play straight through . No skips , for me :stressed:

Album of the year

Loved it on my first listen and I love it even more now.   I keep going back to it. My ears crave that sound because there is nothing else like it. I listen to it multiple times each day.

SAML is that girl to me NOW
Wasnt on the Borderline train at first and now I think it is one of the best records she has ever recorded.

I couldn't listen to baby mama and high heels and now I can just put the album on and hit play and enjoy it for what it is.

A masterpiece!

Now, back to the topic. The majority of the album slays and there's not a single bad track: HH and BM have grown on me, they're actually good overall.

I've def warmed up to it a bit more over time. I listen to the first 8 tracks primarily (well, 6 b/c I skip the interludes  :dead:). The back half doesn't feel like it really fits with the front for me.

My faves are probably SAML and Unconditional Oceans. Lucid has grown on me quite a bit as well. Sometimes I like Say Something and other times I don't lol. It reminds me a bit too much of the Freedom Rings/B&P vocal vibe that I'm not a huge fan of. But the beat punches. And I've noticed that's the song that non-Brandy fans resonate most with, at least initially.

I think it would've been a lot more solid as an EP. That or I wish she would've replaced the back end with more of the tracks that she and Camper did. But overall it's pretty solid and kinda reminds me of Afro in terms of its composition.

Usually I grow tired of albums after 2 weeks or so, but I still listen to b7 almost everyday. I can play tracks 1-10 all the way through (including the interludes). Sometimes I'll even play High Heels.

It's a great body of work. A lot of ppl who trashed it initially have come around and enjoy it. Even some of my friends who "couldn't get into it" are loving it after Verzuz.

I'm wondering if the deluxe will just be some songs tacked on at the end or if it will be restructured to include the new songs are various different points in the album. The way she focused on the flow it would seem weird to just add them as an afterthought. Hope they're working on a revised tracklist and some segue messes in the stu! That would be dope. But either way I'll be happy to hear more new songs!

But lemme stay on topic

I initially was actually pretty disappointed when i heard the album off rip. My ears couldn't quite grasp what was going on and i was thinking "omg the response from everyone else is gonna be even worse"

I wasn't listening to enjoy it and experience it, i was constantly bracing myself for what to be disappointed in. That's NO way to listen to an Album. :dead:

I genuinely love it now and I'm so glad my ears appreciate it without force and nothing can sway me from how i feel about it

It's so damn good to me and It's in my Top 3 Brandy albums right now, period.

My opinion has pretty much remained the same. As I said before, the first half of the album is superb for what it is. I also still think this is something that should've been released a few years ago (i'm also aware things don't necessarily work like that. This is/was the space she's in now and I get it). Still feel the rap cheapens "I Am More". Still hate the the rap and rap style on "High Heels". Nix a couple of songs and this would've been a bomb ass EP to hold us over for the ALBUM. That's what b7 feels like to me, an EP. It doesn't feel like a "Brandy" album. For me, when Brandy releases albums it feels like an event and I just don't think Camper is equipped to lay the foundation for an album for someone of Brandy's caliber.

I will say"rather be"was cute......but as a whole just wasn't her best work in my opinion. Brandy can come way harder. Dj camper wasn't a strong pick of a executive producer to me the production lack a lot of elements. Brandy needs producer that will challenge her vocally an not just stay in a box that she comfortable in. An producer need to come HARD!! Bring back real music an hopefully she does that next album. She was doing more vocals on the verzuz than the album.

I thought SAML was disgusting at first. But once I got into the lyrics and the dope things she was doing that I hadn't noticed before, I couldn't get enough of it. I still can't.

The lyrics of Bye Bipolar are sooooo HONEST. The way she LAYS into Ryan.

"You led me on to think that we'd wed
Sleeping with the enemy
Snake in my bed
You rolled my dough and got a bigger head"

"You were different
Played me like a fool
All you ever wanted was 15% of my moves
You were mute, a fluke with so many needs
A fraud living with me and my seed"

BITCH WRITE THE DAMN SONG :gorlonfire:

I love this album although it does have its faults. I don't hate High Heels or Baby Mama and they do lash me sometimes but I could have done without them on the album and replaced them with two other vibey songs. High on Hell could have been left for Sy'rai.

SAML and Unconditional Oceans were the two I had to adjust to the most but I love them. When you get into the lyrics of Unconditional and the way she sings it, its so amazing and FREE. I had to let go of my initial expectations of SAML and just vibe to it...it sounds amazing on Speakers when you aren't even expecting it.

Yeah at most remixes are DEF needed for High Heels & Baby Mama, maybe bring in Victoria Monet to re-write & structure these songs on new beats too

No Tomorrow has grown on me a lot. That first verse

I still can't get over the soft vocal on SAML. Don't care for Bye Bipolar much, but it is a beautiful song. High Heels is noisy AF but the shit SLAPS! Outside of that I'm in bliss.

I like the album on first listen and the last time that happened was w/ Full Moon, so that says a lot. I feel like she made this album just for me. It's conceptual, high art, heart felt, and substantive. It's def in my Brandy album Trinity and will likely stay there. This project holds a very special place in my heart

Ugh,  gtfo

Look at your siggy and then tell me why you're mad that I'm expressing how I feel about the album in a thread asking how people feel about the album  :dead:
Because you've been expressing THE SAME sentiment for over a month.  Even in that other thread that had nothing to do with that, u found some way to segue back to how terribly mixed the album was and blah blah blah. WE GET IT! Now when he's calling the album a masterpiece ur slick trying to diminish his opinion. Like, GTFO!

Is that not what everyone does on here? Express each other's opinion and then criticize/argue them? That's not all I've been saying but it's the only thing you want to bring up time after time. I've praised the album and certain songs as well. Point being, for someone so adamant about being able to share however they feel about the album, it's funny how now that you like it, you don't agree with it being criticized.

You don't like me and that's fine. Why don't you just ignore me and I'll ignore you from now on.
Fag, I hardly ever address u because ur a no one to me.  I don't give af about u voicing ur issues.  U and I RARELY engage.  Him calling the album a masterpiece and u trying to negate that is lame tho and imma say it.  Ur right, u can ignore me. U could've started just now but instead u quoted me so here we are. I guess u could try again and just gtfo of my thread. Show me how bad u really dont want to interact with me and just comply  :dead:

And yet here we are again, with you addressing me first.
False. I didn't address u. I expressed irritation and said gtfo. Addressing is quoting u and engaging with u, stupid. U didn't need to respond because u don't wanna interact with me,  correct? So don't, fckn idiot  :dead:

The only Brandy albums I've LOVED instantly on first listen were NSN and Afro but it took only 2-3 listens of B7 for me to fully get in vs the years it took for FM and Human.

I'd currently rank it 5th, above 2/11 and Brandy, but that may change over time. Can't deny it's creative and different for sure, just wish it was a bit more consistent and cohesive as a full album. I think the deluxe may help round it out a bit. The first half minus interludes is strong tho.

Ehhhh I think the songs are too complex in structure and sound to have them just hitting one after another. I love the interludes although I think she could have made them longer and did more with them...idk why they didn't.

The interludes are leading into the next phase, whether that be another album or deluxe. I wish they would have just given us the song, but I'm sure they'll make it make sense here shortly lolz

Those are nothing but clues and HINTS IMO.

Who tf want war?!
I don't understand the popular songs on Spotify because surely Bran has other songs that have streamed more than that 2 milli on Borderline idk her numbers seem kinda low, esp when I look at Monica's. Is the popular just like what's streaming the most from her catalog for the week?
