Shontelle talks about dealing with Rihanna comparisons and says all she could do was be herself and hope people would notice their differences. She says she would have compared 2 artists coming out of Barbados or any other place herself.
She wrote "Man Down" for Rihanna. Says she met up with Rih when she was touring with Ke$ha, and after performing a 2 hour show, she walked straight off stage unto her studio bus to record with Shontelle. She didn't even think they would keep "Man Down" but Rihanna fought for the record.
She says Beyonce has an extreme vetting system in regards to who she lets open up for her on tour. She was shocked she was chosen to open for her and she learned a lot through connecting with Bey & her team on tour and it felt like a family.
Used her experience on the Bey tour to write & record "Impossible". Says it was an extremely difficult song to sing/record, even though people may think it is easy.
Struggled with depression after her career fizzled and family members were dying left and right... she became a recluse. She is slowly starting to come back out and has just released a new song titled "Remember Me".

She's made good coins writing soca songs with various artists in the Caribbean! She was doing well overseas tho she's a good person and mad talented :stressed:
