QuoteAs popular '90s sitcoms make their way to various streaming platforms, Martin is still a fan favorite. Tisha Campbell, who starred as the iconic Gina Waters during the show's five seasons, explained why she believes the series is still vital to the culture today.
She told Entertainment Tonight:
"There were so many Black shows going on at the time. What was important was that there were two young African-American people who were in love. Now, we had The Cosby Show representation. But we really [never] had two young people who were having fun, discovering each other, discovering life. I think that is [why] there are so many songs about Martin and Gina."
Although there was drama between Tisha Campbell and Martin Lawrence on set that resulted in the two actors ending their friendship during the final season, Tisha Campbell adds that she and Martin Lawrence reconciled after she filed for divorce from her husband, Duane Martin, in February 2018.
"I hadn't seen him since the last day of the show, and I literally screamed. I was like, 'I'm so happy to talk to you.'"
As for what caused their fallout, it's known knowledge that Tisha Campbell previously accused Martin Lawrence of sexual harassment. She didn't say much about their past issues but added:
"That will always stay private. And all I know is that at the end of it, we are so good. We are just supportive of one another, supportive of each other's families. We talked, it's all good."
Meanwhile, the cast is pushing for a Martin reboot.
"We are trying to. It's so hard to say."
She added that it's difficult because of their busy schedules and the passing of Tommy Ford.
"One, Tommy's not here. And the other thing is the schedule. It literally falls down to schedule. Every single one of us, thank God, is still working."
She continued:
"We made an impact and it was a big thing for us. And I do not take it lightly. I'm still grateful that I could ease and heal people with laughter."
Are you ready for a Martin reboot? Comment and let us know!
It's definitely not going to work without Tommy Ford.
What are yall thoughts?
Leave it ALONE! Everything don't need to be rebooted. Do a reunion like fresh Prince and dassit

!!!
But it needs to be funny. Like we need bruh man roscoe Shanehneh etc but yeah I'm here for it.
Reboot for what? Martin is one of our most classic shows. That magic cannot be duplicated.
If anything, they should have a reunion special. Similar to TFP, but with more clowning. I'd love to see that.
I agree with a reunion special. The only way a reboot would've worked is if Tommy Ford was still alive. The same goes for Moesha & Family Matters. Just do a one time reunion special with the living cast members and go on about your day.
a reboot can work if it's funny, period. bad writing is literally the only thing that ruins it.

Not interested. Rather see a reboot of Living Single
I dunno bout this tbh
martin is sacred . The comedic genius . Effortlessness of it all
but if any of them feel a need to do it for the money I'm here for it . They deserve to continue eating off of the legacy they created. If I don't use I just won't watch and keep the reruns on my screen instead lol.

I agree with this. I just don't see a reboot being as good as the original. I can already tell it's gonna be a forced mess. Besides, by the final season you could see the show had lost its steam and the chemistry was all off, even Martin's demeanor was different.
Leave it alone.

Yea a reboot is just a bad idea. The chemistry DEFINITELY won't be the same. They're older so that'll be a factor too tbh. It'll be cornier and forced. I'm not really trying to see Martin going back n forth with Pam, just because I just don't think it'll be the same. This is a bad idea

I agree but I think that Moesha deserves an ending since we never got one[/b][/b]
