number 42

With women dominating R&B this year, it's not a total surprise that '90s superstar Brandy would re-emerge on the scene with her first album in eight years. B7 is the singer-songwriter's manifesto of how she tended to her years-long pain with poise, as she confronts her past toxic relationships and mental health issues on "Borderline" and "Bye BiPolar," while proudly reclaiming the title "Baby Mama" on her Chance the Rapper collaboration of the same name. Meanwhile, the electro-soul sound of B7 -- which she co-wrote and co-produced top to bottom for the first time -- puts the bounce back in Brandy's step. -- HERAN MAMO

Nice. These lists are great but don't take it to heart if she isn't on them. A lot of these music sites are from one persons opinion just like anyone else on this board
For her to make this list is so glorious. As a independent R&B artist from the 90s .. very, very few artists from the 90s era of R&B are still respected like that.

Album of the year
She deserves all the flowers she is getting and more. She truly put her heart into this project. I love this album. Borderline probably unseated "Angel In Disguise" as my favorite song of all time.

Lucid Dreams is literally the song I've always wanted her to do. It's gonna take me a while to process what she's done. I gagged.
Awesome
Between this and the couple of articles talking about her Grammy snub. The critics just LOVE her and this album!
