And all of a sudden this loud ass fucking noise came on with a voice saying "an emergency has been reported. Proceed to the nearest stairwell ... do not use the elevator."
Bitch half of me was like ok stay calm this could be a false alarm. And the other half was like bitch ur life is in danger .
The way I HOPPED up , grabbed my jacket and didn't even think about everything I was leaving behind . I walked out my door to see my neighbor PEEPING out into the hallway looking confused ... like "what's going on?" I'm like wtf the message and instructions are clear . An emergency has been reported , get ur ass to the stairwell! Fnnfnf I Didn't even waste time entertaining him. Stay up here and give a Clueless mess if U want . I'm out
I'm on the 14th fuckin floor so it was a LONG walk down those stairs. Being from NYC I couldn't help but to think of 9/11. And that scared the shit out of me. The way the "views!!! Views!!!" Bit me in the ass so hard.
Luckily I wasn't by myself ... as I was going down other people came . Just the thought of continuing to go down those stairs not Knowing what awaits you ... not having a guarantee that you'll make it to the ground floor alive . The only thing u can do is HOPE as u keep going down each floor.
It wasn't until I made it all the way down safely the the ground floor that I began to think of my loft. My baby. My investment. It could be in danger. But I was safe , and if I was gonna end this night with nothing but my coat and my phone I was totally ok with that . And I think that's how it should be . Me first , material shit second. I can always get more material shit.
I'm still shaking just a bit . But obviously it was a false alarm. The fire dept came and cleared everything very quickly .I'm not even gonna tell my fam cuz they'd just worry.
But I'm still a lil shook. What a great reminder of what's really important and how fast something can be taken from u. I consider myself to be a grateful person but now I am even more.

I never wanted a house. Always wanted exactly what I have now.
And i have automatic Fire sprinklers in my unit, in each room along the ceilings . As does the others in this building. So once The heat gets hot there'll be something there to protect my property in some way.
